- Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty in post-traumatic and previously operated knees with retained hardware: Practical decision-making workflow. [Review]
- Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) after periarticular fracture fixation, malunion, high tibial osteotomy, or other previous knee surgery differs substantially from routine primary TKA. Retained implants, extra-articular deformity, distorted landmarks, bone defects, scarred soft tissues, and infection risk may all compromise standard instrumentation and implant positioning. Robotic-assisted TKA (RA-TK…

- Who Am I? Eyebrow Follicles Minimize Donor-Derived DNA for Germline Testing After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. [Journal Article]
- Germline genetic testing plays a critical role in diagnosing inherited predispositions and increasingly guides therapeutic and surveillance choices-but becomes technically challenging after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), when donor-derived DNA contaminates host tissues. To address this, we compared donor-derived DNA across three accessible tissues-buccal swab, nail, an…

- Pediatric Ingrown Toenails: A Practical Treatment Algorithm. [Review]Dermatol Surg. 2026 Jun 01; 52(6):537-542.DS
- CONCLUSIONS: Management of pediatric ingrown toenails should be individualized based on severity and age. A thorough assessment of the child's foot structure and gait, which may contribute to recurrence or suboptimal outcomes, should be performed as an adjunct procedure.

- [Standard radiographic images in cephalomedullary nailing fixation for intertrochanteric femoral fractures]. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: As for real-time monitoring of surgical steps, intraoperative fluoroscopy follows the "Enough is Good" principle, but as for immediate postoperative data storage and basis for operative quality evaluation and baseline for follow-up comparison, it is recommended to obtain a set of three standard radiographic pictures in anteroposterior, true lateral, and 30° anteromedial oblique fluoroscopic projections.

- Total Hip Replacement and Femoral Nail Lengthening for Hip Dysplasia and Limb Length Discrepancy: A Literature Review. [Review]
- Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a serious condition resulting in inadequate acetabular development, distorted bone configuration, and substantially altered hip biomechanics. An extensive leg length discrepancy (LLD) is commonly encountered in such cases, making a total hip arthroplasty (THA) procedure extremely challenging. Although good results in terms of patients' satisfaction, imp…

- The role of nailfold capillaroscopy in pediatric patients with Kawasaki disease. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Capillary alterations are more common in KD patients compared to control group. Thus, nailfold capillaroscopy can be useful in detecting these alterations. Capillaroscopy is a sensitive test for detecting capillary alternations in KD patients. It could be used as a feasible diagnostic modality for evaluating microvascular damage in KD.

- Spatial hand representation in anorexia nervosa: a controlled pilot study. [Journal Article]
- Body representation distortion (BRD) is a core criterion of Anorexia Nervosa (AN), and is usually assessed subjectively, focusing on body shape. We aimed to develop a new assessment to evaluate body representation independently from socially-mediated body image, on a body part with low emotional salience (hands). In a monocentric open label pilot study, we measured hand representations based on e…

- Fingertip injury epidemiology: an Indian perspective. [Journal Article]
- Fingertip injuries result in significant morbidity. It is associated with pain, loss of work and recreational hours, financial burden, and distortion of body image. Although it is a common injury, the epidemiology of fingertip injury is a subject with scanty literature. This study is aimed at providing epidemiology of fingertip injury in India. Epidemiological data were collected and analysed thr…

- Serum ceruloplasmin monitoring in a case of silver intoxication due to intravenous silver infusion. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: The potential effects of silver to liver and copper metabolism were shown in this case. Serum ceruloplasmin also serves as a surrogate marker in monitoring silver intoxication.

- Evaluation of inner ear and hearing functions in lichen planus patients. [Journal Article]J Cosmet Dermatol. 2022 Feb; 21(2):776-780.JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Because of the increasing hearing thresholds, we think that hearing and inner ear functions of LP patients, particularly with oral mucosal involvement, are negatively affected.

- Mechanoregulation modeling of bone healing in realistic fracture geometries. [Journal Article]
- In bone fracture healing, new tissue gradually forms, ossifies, and eventually remodels itself to restore mechanical stiffness and strength across injury site. Mechanical strain at the fracture site has been implicated in controlling the process of healing and numerical mechanoregulation models with strain-based fuzzy logic rules have been applied to simulate bone healing for simple fracture geom…

- Intramedullary fixation with bioabsorbable and osteoconductive hydroxyapatite/poly-L-lactide threaded pin in digital replantation. [Journal Article]J Plast Surg Hand Surg. 2020 Jun; 54(3):177-181.JP
- In digital replantation, Kirschner wire (K-wire) fixation has commonly been used for osteosynthesis. On the other hand, K-wires are often obtrusive because of protrusion from the replanted digit. We describe a case series treated using hydroxyapatite/poly-L-lactide (HPLLA) threaded pins, which are not only bioabsorbable, but also osteoconductive, for osteosynthesis in crushed amputation or commin…

- [Incorrect aftercare of a surgically treated metatarsal fracture]. [Case Reports]
- A 60-year-old patient suffered an ankle distortion resulting in a comminuted fracture of the fifth metatarsal. On the same day the accident occurred the patient presented to an emergency department and immediate operative treatment of the fracture was performed by intramedullary Kirschner wires with closed reduction and internal fixation. The aftercare was carried out on an outpatient basis by a …

- [Correction Loss of Calcaneal Fractures by Different Type of Osteosynthesis]. [Journal Article]Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 2019; 86(2):124-130.AC
- PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The calcaneal bone is affected in 2% of body fractures. Because of its major influence to walking stability with its permanent consequences affecting both daily living and work activities, huge effort is expended on suitable treatment of these fractures. Many studies have focused on surgical treatment of calcaneal fractures or on comparing operative and non-operative treatmen…
- Devising Osteosynthesis for the Reverse Oblique Olecranon Fracture: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: In reverse oblique fractures, the compression force applied to the fracture site is weak because it is not vertical to the fracture line. Therefore, stable osteosynthesis cannot be performed, and post-operative redisplacement occurs. The combination of TBW and plates should be actively considered in reverse oblique olecranon fractures for which adequate fixation cannot be provided by TBW alone.
