  • Dimensions of discomfort: Exploring smartphone dimensions and its impact on upper extremity musculoskeletal health. [Journal Article]
Work. 2026 Aug 18; :10519815261478128. [Online ahead of print]Sanjeevi RR, Mohanan K, … Alothman SAWORK
  • BackgroundSmartphones have become essential tools in modern daily life, with usage intensifying in the post-pandemic era. Prolonged and addictive smartphone use has been increasingly associated with Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) in the upper extremity. Beyond usage duration, device characteristics may also influence musculoskeletal strain.ObjectivesThis study examined the relationships between …
  • Oritavancin safety: a real-world pharmacovigilance study of the FAERS database. [Journal Article]
Front Cell Infect Microbiol. 2026; 16:1798934.Xie B, Zhou YF, … Cui XJFC
  • CONCLUSIONS: This real-world pharmacovigilance analysis corroborates the known labeled safety profile of oritavancin and identifies multiple underemphasized signals not fully specified in the product label, involving the neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems. These disproportionality signals from spontaneous reporting reflect only statistical associations rather than definitive causality, and warrant further verification to inform clinical safety monitoring.
  • A comparative study on the bilateral areolar endoscopic approach versus the conventional open thyroidectomy. [Journal Article]
Front Surg. 2026; 13:1809044.Ma X, Xia QJ, … Wang TXFS
  • CONCLUSIONS: BAA thyroidectomy offers superior cosmetic satisfaction, less pain, and reduced blood loss compared with COA, with benefits persisting after rigorous confounding adjustment. The preoperative model demonstrated clinical utility in personalizing patient selection for BAA. BAA is a safe and highly satisfactory option for selected patients with papillary TC. However, patient selection based on cosmetic preference introduces unmeasured confounding by preoperative cosmetic expectations, which may influence subjective outcomes.
  • Lymph node dissection, pain, and psychological factors: association with sleep quality during the perioperative period in oral cancer patients. [Journal Article]
Support Care Cancer. 2026 Aug 17; 34(9).Wang J, Wang YSC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Poor sleep quality during the perioperative period was observed in 92.70% of oral cancer patients. Neck dissection, postoperative day 7 pain and perceived stress showed significant crude correlations with sleep quality during the perioperative period. Notably, the neck dissection comparison group was limited to only 20 patients, and multiple key clinical confounders were unavailable for adjustment; thus this correlation must be interpreted cautiously. Clinically, greater attention should be given to such patients. Postoperative pain and perceived stress may serve as promising targets for future interventional studies aiming to improve sleep quality during the perioperative period in this population.
  • Correction strategy for osteomyelitis-associated cervical deformity with illustrative 2D operative video: illustrative case. [Journal Article]
J Neurosurg Case Lessons. 2026 Aug 17; 12(7).Bradach D, Ndahayo UAB, Galgano MJN
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the necessity of rigorous postoperative surveillance in patients with spinal infections, particularly those with existing instrumentation, as follow-up gaps can mask insidious deformity progression. Furthermore, chronic osteomyelitis often obscures surgical landmarks through soft tissue hypertrophy and scarring. Achieving wide exposure to define reliable anatomical landmarks is paramount to safely navigating the operative field and protecting the vertebral arteries. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE26453.
  • Acute Myocarditis Presenting as Neck Pain With Severe Systemic Inflammation. [Case Reports]
JACC Case Rep. 2026 Aug 17; :109796. [Online ahead of print]Fayyaz A, Khan SW, … Hewitt VJC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Extracardiac symptoms initially obscured the diagnosis; parametric cardiac magnetic resonance mapping proved diagnostically valuable.Myocarditis may present with atypical extracardiac inflammatory symptoms. Parametric cardiac magnetic resonance mapping can support diagnosis when conventional imaging findings are limited or absent.
