- Cordycepin Alleviates Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Progression by Stabilizing GCH1 to Inhibit Ferroptosis. [Journal Article]Phytother Res. 2026 Aug 06. [Online ahead of print]PR
- To investigate the effects and targets of cordycepin (COR) in alleviating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). High-fat diet was used to induce NAFLD in mice, and after COR gavage administration, changes in liver function, glucose and lipid metabolism, and ferroptosis-related signaling were detected. In vitro, palmitic acid (PA) and oleic acid (PSA) were combined to induce hepatocyte lipid …

- Lasso Regression-based Model for Cross-Sectional Identification of Significant Hepatic Fibrosis in NAFLD LASSO-based identification of hepatic fibrosis in NAFLD. [Journal Article]Biomed Environ Sci. 2026 Jul 20; 39(7):799-808.BE
- CONCLUSIONS: The noninvasive model, incorporating demographic, laboratory, and imaging parameters, accurately identified significant hepatic fibrosis in NAFLD and outperformed existing noninvasive scores. This may facilitate interventions and guide personalized management.

- Time-Varying Impact of Steatosis and Alcohol on Mortality: A Marginal Structural Model of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging. [Journal Article]Liver Int. 2026 Sep; 46(9):e70833.LI
- CONCLUSIONS: SLD phenotypes are dynamic, with substantial transitions between disease subtypes over time. Reliance on static classifications may therefore misclassify risk. Longitudinal, time-varying approaches better capture disease evolution and may improve prognostic assessment and risk stratification.

- Integrative analysis of NHANES, network toxicology, molecular docking, molecular dynamics, and in vitro experiments to elucidate the molecular mechanisms linking BPA to NAFLD. [Journal Article]Drug Chem Toxicol. 2026 Aug 05; :1-14. [Online ahead of print]DC
- Bisphenol A (BPA), a ubiquitous plasticizer, has been implicated in lipid metabolic imbalance, yet its contribution to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remains incompletely understood. Here, we combined NHANES data analysis, network toxicology, microarray profiling, molecular docking and dynamics simulations, and LO2 hepatocyte experiments to investigate the association between BPA exposu…

- Ginkgo biloba L. in preventing cardiovascular disease: pharmacological effects, mechanism of action, and therapeutic potential. [Review]
- Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) involve complex, interrelated pathologies such as oxidative stress, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, platelet aggregation, and dyslipidemia, for which single-target drugs remain constrained. As a multicomponent herbal medicine, Ginkgo biloba L. (G. biloba) contains diverse bioactive constituents, primarily flavonoids (e.g., quercetin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin,…

- Paeoniflorin and NAFLD: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Animal Studies With Mechanistic Insights. [Review]Food Sci Nutr. 2026 Aug; 14(8):e72192.FS
- Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major metabolic liver disorder with limited pharmacological options. Paeoniflorin (PF), a bioactive compound from Paeonia lactiflora, has shown hepatometabolic effects in experimental studies, but its overall efficacy in NAFLD models remains unclear. We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and CBM from inc…

- Adipokine Profile in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112017.C
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with NAFLD showed a clear adipokine imbalance, characterised by reduced adiponectin and increased leptin, resistin and visfatin levels. This pattern was associated with obesity, dyslipidaemia and insulin resistance, indicating that adipokine alterations may contribute to the metabolic and inflammatory mechanisms involved in NAFLD.

- Rapamycin-induced fatty liver in mice is attenuated by chloroquine co-treatment in an ERRα-dependent manner. [Journal Article]J Endocrinol. 2026 Aug 03. [Online ahead of print]JE
- Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), remains a major health concern world-wide. Hepatic steatosis manifests by the aberrant accumulation of lipids in hepatocytes. We have previously shown that pharmacological inhibition of mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) by rapamycin, a widely utilized potent immunosuppressant, in…

- From Clinic to Community: A Public Health Framework for Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatotic Liver Disease Prevention in India. [Journal Article]J Assoc Physicians India. 2026 Jul; 74(7):67-69.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: India stands at a pivotal moment in redefining hepatology as a preventive, public health-oriented discipline. By embedding liver screening within existing NCD frameworks, leveraging task-sharing, and mobilizing digital infrastructure and public-private partnerships, India can develop a replicable model for early MASLD detection and intervention. This community hepatology framework-if scaled nationally-has the potential to position India as a global leader in MASLD prevention for low- and middle-income countries.

- Hypothyroidism in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. [Journal Article]J Assoc Physicians India. 2026 Jun; 74(6):12-15.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates a strong association between hypothyroidism and both hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in NAFLD. Routine thyroid function screening is recommended in NAFLD patients, particularly those with metabolic syndrome or suspected fibrosis. Early detection and treatment of hypothyroidism may provide therapeutic benefits in slowing or reversing NAFLD progression.
