- [Bladder Pain Syndrome Associated with Detrusor Underactivity and Bladder Outlet Obstruction : A Case Report]. [Case Reports]Hinyokika Kiyo. 2026 Mar; 72(3):117-120.HK
- We report a case of bladder pain syndrome (BPS) in which pain improved with clean intermittent catheterization (CIC). The patient wasa 26-year-old woman who had experienced urinary frequency since childhood. Two years prior to visiting our hospital, her symptoms worsened, leading her to seek medical attention for increased frequency and bladder pain. Cystoscopy revealed no Hunner's lesions, but a…

- Clinical characteristics and kidney outcomes in children with posterior urethral valve: a single-center experience. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that renal damage in children with PUV may begin during the antenatal period. In this cohort, postnatal factors such as bladder dysfunction, vesicoureteral reflux, and recurrent urinary tract infections were not significantly associated with CKD. Persistent hydronephrosis at last follow-up was more commonly observed in children with CKD. In multivariable analysis, baseline renal function was significantly associated with CKD development.

- [Urethral stricture]. [Journal Article]
- Urethral stricture is a fibrotic narrowing of the urethra leading to significant lower urinary tract obstruction, predominantly affecting men. Its etiology is multifactorial, with iatrogenic causes being most common in industrialized countries. Pathophysiologically, inflammatory or traumatic processes result in spongiofibrosis and subsequent luminal narrowing. Clinically, patients present with ob…

- Pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia of the prepuce, a benign mimic of penile squamous cell carcinoma: a case report. [Journal Article]J Med Case Rep. 2026 Apr 07. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of including PEH in the differential diagnosis of suspicious penile lesions, particularly in elderly patients. Histopathological confirmation through biopsy is crucial to avoid unnecessary radical surgeries, such as partial or total penectomy. Early recognition and appropriate management can preserve function while ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

- A series of adult male (n = 6) and female (n = 4) rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) underwent a bilateral S1 ventral root avulsion injury for longitudinal lower urinary tract studies in a motor-sparing experimental model of conus medullaris syndrome. The surgeries were well tolerated, and all animals recovered well postoperatively. However, one male animal presented clinically with acute lethargy,…

- Delayed Diagnosis of Posterior Urethral Valves in a 14-Year-Old Adolescent. [Case Reports]Reports (MDPI). 2026 Mar 02; 9(1).R
- Background and Clinical Significance: Posterior urethral valves are rare congenital anomalies characterized by persistent urethral mucosal folds and causing varying degrees of obstruction. The increasing use of prenatal ultrasound has contributed to the early diagnosis of posterior urethral valves (PUV), a condition associated with a severe prognosis, as approximately one-fifth of affected patien…

- Transurethral Resection of the Prostate in Patients With Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction. [Review]Neurourol Urodyn. 2026 Mar 27. [Online ahead of print]NU
- CONCLUSIONS: Baseline detrusor function and the presence of true bladder outlet obstruction are critical determinants of both potential benefit and risk following TURP in men with NLUTD. TURP should therefore be considered selectively and guided by objective urodynamic findings.

- Uroflowmetric characteristics of children with non-neurogenic voiding dysfunction: a large single-center cohort. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Uroflowmetric parameters in children with non-neurogenic voiding dysfunction differ according to sex, age, and voiding pattern. Recognition of these differences may facilitate early identification of high-risk subgroups and support the development of more targeted diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

- CONCLUSIONS: RMUD-enabled phenotyping with Index Symptoms reveals substantial heterogeneity among men with LUTS and identifies patterns of obstruction, overactivity, and NP. This LUTS phenotyping framework supports more precise counseling, treatment selection, and identification of patients who warrant further evaluation.

- Posterior urethral valve presenting as posterior urethral calculus in adult: A rare case scenario. [Case Reports]Urol Case Rep. 2026 May; 66:103399.UC
- Posterior urethral valve (PUV) rarely causes adult lower urinary tract obstruction and is rarely linked to posterior urethral calculi. A 21-year-old male with 5-year history of (LUTS) had a 19 × 22 × 39 mm posterior urethral stone removed via open cystolithotomy (35 mm stone). Persistent poor flow led to RUG/MCUG showing urethral dilatation and cystoscopy confirming PUV, ablated with holmium lase…

- Severe Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction in Otherwise Healthy Children: A Three-Case Series and Narrative Review. [Case Reports]Pediatr Rep. 2026 Feb 03; 18(1).PR
- CONCLUSIONS: These cases highlight the heterogeneity and potential reversibility of severe functional LUTD in otherwise healthy children. Early functional recognition based on urodynamic assessment is essential to avoid misdiagnosis, prevent unnecessary surgical intervention, and protect renal function. Conservative, function-oriented management remains the cornerstone of effective treatment. The findings are discussed in the context of the existing literature on severe non-neurogenic LUTD and Hinman syndrome.
