  • Early Detection Intervals for Evaluating Event-Based Surveillance System: Reference Dataset Development Study. [Journal Article]
    JMIR Public Health Surveill. 2026 May 05; 12:e87030.Shen Y, AbdelMalik P, … Buckeridge DLJP
  • CONCLUSIONS: The dataset of early detection intervals created in this study can serve as reference data and facilitate the evaluation of the timeliness of alerts generated by EBS systems. Systematic and comprehensive evaluation of EBS is important to guide the development of EBS and motivate the integration of EBS into public health practice. Our study also highlights cross-country disparities in data quality, particularly for genomic evidence, and the need for data collection and sharing focused on low-resource settings.

  • Lung cancer (LC) is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, primarily due to diagnosis at advanced stages. Although low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening reduces lung cancer mortality in high-risk populations, current screening programmes are largely restricted to individuals defined by age and smoking history. This approach excludes never-smokers and individuals with non…
  • Perceptions and Beliefs Associated with Enrolling in Pulmonary Rehabilitation in People With Chronic Respiratory Diseases: A Qualitative Study. [Journal Article]
Physiother Can. 2025 Aug; 77(3):396-404.Oliveira A, Selzler AM, … Goldstein RPC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Participants perceived enrolment in PR to be impacted by the information acquired from sources in addition to their health care providers, logistics associated with accessing PR, perception of their current capabilities, the belief that PR was their last resource for improvement and past experiences regarding knowledge about exercise and symptoms. To increase enrolment in PR programmes, health care providers should prioritize effective communication, address concerns and misconceptions, consider accessibility, and understand/address psychosocial factors such as motivation and belief systems.

  • Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) are a growing global health concern. Emerging evidence implicates circulating metabolites in their development and progression, but definitive causal insights into how metabolic patterns influence disease pathways remain limited. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to evaluate potential causal effects of 1400 serum metabolites on 5 m…
