- Distal Nail Canal Visible on Onychoscopy as a Diagnostic Sign of Dermatophytoma. [Journal Article]Dermatol Pract Concept. 2026 Jan 30; 16(1).DP
- CONCLUSIONS: Onychoscopy reveals specific features, particularly the presence of a canal, that can aid early diagnosis. Recognizing these features is essential to initiating combined antifungal and mechanical therapy to improve outcomes. Training clinicians to identify the canal sign may significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic success.

- Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia cepacia complex co-infection in green nail syndrome: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1751352.FM
- Green nail syndrome (GNS) is classically characterized by a triad of green nail discoloration, paronychia, and onycholysis. Although Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is the primary etiologic agent, infections involving co-pathogens are uncommon and pose considerable diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to the absence of standardized management guidelines. We herein report a rare case o…

- Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic, recurrent inflammatory disease, yet its accompanying nail abnormalities have long received insufficient attention. The clinical characteristics, underlying mechanisms, and assessment systems for nail dystrophy in AD remain unclear. AD-associated nail dystrophy can manifest in various forms, including Beau's lines, nail pitting, koilongchia, trachyonychi…

- Management of Nail Toxicities From Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitors. [Systematic Review]J Drugs Dermatol. 2026 Mar 01; 25(3):263-267.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of FGFRi-associated nail toxicities varies by agent and can affect quality of life and treatment adherence. The pathogenesis remains unclear, and no predictive biomarkers exist. Further research into optimized management and preventative strategies is needed. Early recognition and proactive multidisciplinary management are essential to minimizing complications and maintaining oncologic treatment continuity.  .

- Dermoscopy of Subungual Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Dermoscopy reliably identifies features, particularly hyperkeratosis, onycholysis, irregular margins and hemorrhagic spots, that are common in invasive subungual squamous cell carcinoma; in situ disease more commonly presents with pigmentary changes. Recognition of these signs should lower the threshold for biopsy of suspicious single-digit nail lesions and may facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment.

- Acrylate Allergic Contact Dermatitis Among Manicure Consumers and Professionals. [Journal Article]Nurs Womens Health. 2026 Apr; 30(2):148-157.NW
- Acrylate allergic contact dermatitis is a growing concern, particularly among women exposed to nail cosmetics as consumers or professionals. Not all nail products carry equal risk. Repeated exposure to acrylates or improper curing can lead to symptoms resembling other forms of allergic contact dermatitis. Onycholysis is one common symptom that can be painful and slow to heal. Treatment of acrylat…

- Focal Pigmented Squamous Cell Carcinoma (pSCC) In Situ of the Nail: A Rare Case Emphasizing Diagnostic Vigilance. [Case Reports]
- Pigmented squamous cell carcinoma (pSCC) of the nail unit is an uncommon condition that can mimic benign entities. Clinically, pSCC can present as longitudinal melanonychia, onycholysis, or verrucous plaques, potentially leading to diagnostic delays. The pigmented variant is particularly challenging to diagnose, as it may be mistaken for benign melanocytic lesions. Histologically, pSCC demonstrat…

- Evaluation and management of mechanical and structural nail disorders: A clinical review. [Review]J Am Acad Dermatol. 2026 May; 94(5):1493-1503.JA
- Physical trauma is the most common cause of toenail onychodystrophy, surpassing onychomycosis. Ill-fitting footwear and anatomical foot/toe abnormalities, including Morton's toe, hallux valgus/erectus/rigidus, and flat and splay foot, predispose the forefoot to nonphysiologic strain and toenail alterations, often resembling onychomycosis. Dystrophic toenails should therefore be assessed alongside…
