- Efficacy of Fixed Low-Power Long-Duration Radiofrequency Ablation of Ventricular Arrhythmias Originating From the Left Ventricular Summit. [Journal Article]J Arrhythm. 2026 Jun; 42(3):e70339.JA
- CONCLUSIONS: Endocardial RFCA using a fixed LPLD RFCA strategy was associated with a higher acute success rate without major complications compared with conventional RFCA in patients with LVS-VAs. This approach may represent a feasible alternative ablation strategy for LVS-VAs.

- Cardiac Tamponade-A Rare Manifestation of Ruxolitinib Discontinuation Syndrome: A Case Report. [Journal Article]Case Rep Cardiol. 2026; 2026:8854255.CR
- A 52-year-old gentleman presenting with tachycardia was found to have a large pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade. This case was on a background of long-standing myelofibrosis managed with ruxolitinib, which was recently withheld for an orthopaedic procedure. He was diagnosed with presumed ruxolitinib discontinuation syndrome (RDS), resulting in a large pericardial effusion due to an incre…

- Bosutinib-Associated Cardiac Tamponade: Late-Onset Treatment-Emergent Adverse Event-A Case Report. [Journal Article]Case Rep Cardiol. 2026; 2026:6696107.CR
- Fluid retention due to tyrosine kinase inhibitor administration might lead to pericardial effusion and right heart failure. Here, we present the case of a 63-year-old man with subacute cardiac tamponade complicated with heart failure, acute kidney injury, and generalized edema due to the bosutinib treatment.

- Cardiovascular diseases among people living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia: A scoping review. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(5):e0348283.Plos
- CONCLUSIONS: This review highlights the limited yet growing evidence on cardiovascular diseases among PLWHA in Ethiopia, with a predominant focus on hypertension. Future research should use more robust study designs, such as longitudinal and interventional studies, encompass a broader range of cardiovascular diseases, and include community-based studies to better understand the prevalence and burden of cardiovascular diseases among PLWHA in Ethiopia.

- Recurrent Spontaneous Chylopericardium Treated by Thoracic Duct Embolization. [Case Reports]JACC Case Rep. 2026 May 05; :108162. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Magnetic resonance lymphangiography can identify occult sources of chylopericardium. Percutaneous thoracic duct embolization provides a minimally invasive alternative to surgical ligation for definitive treatment of thoracic duct leaks.Recurrent spontaneous chylopericardium should prompt evaluation for thoracic duct pathology. Potentially curative thoracic duct embolization should be considered early.

- Percutaneous Iatrogenic Atrial Septal Defect Closure Post Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair: Revisiting MITHRAS Trial in a Larger Cohort. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106390.C
- Introduction Transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) creates an iatrogenic atrial septal defect (iASD) that may persist and affect hemodynamics. Although the MITHRAS (Closure of Iatrogenic Atrial Septal Defects Following Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair) trial showed no benefit of routine closure, its small size and selective population limit generalizability, and observational data remain conf…

- Cardiac involvement in European canine babesiosis - a pathological perspective. [Journal Article]Top Companion Anim Med. 2026 May 02; :101060. [Online ahead of print]TC
- Canine babesiosis is an important and potentially life-threatening disease of worldwide significance. European babesiosis encompasses all protozoan parasites of the genus Babesia that have been reported to cause canine disease in Europe. Despite its importance, cardiac pathology associated with European babesiosis remains poorly characterized. The aim of this study was to assess cardiac lesions i…

- Electrical Alternans in a Critically Ill Patient: When a Pericardial Effusion Reveals Malignancy. [Journal Article]JACC Case Rep. 2026 May 04; :108049. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: Electrical alternans is highly suggestive of a large pericardial effusion but does not invariably indicate tamponade. Tamponade does not invariably present with the typical clinical triad of hypotension, jugular venous distension, and muffled heart sounds, particularly in slowly progressive cases. In patients without a history of trauma, hemorrhagic pericardial effusion strongly suggests malignancy and prompts further diagnostic evaluation, irrespective of patient age.

- Pericardial Effusion After Cardiac Surgery: Prevalence, Characteristics, Risk Factors and Management. [Journal Article]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 18; 15(8).JC
- Background/Objectives: Pericardial effusion (PEf) is a frequent finding after cardiac surgery. Progression to cardiac tamponade (CT) is a rare but life-threatening complication. Current evidence remains limited due to insufficient data on prevalence, progression predictors and management strategies. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed anamnestic, clinical, laboratory, echocardiographic and thera…

- Association of left posterior pericardiotomy with postoperative atrial fibrillation in Isolated OPCAB: a propensity-weighted analysis. [Journal Article]J Cardiothorac Surg. 2026 May 02. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: In elective isolated OPCAB, concomitant LPP was associated with a lower incidence of POAF and shorter hospital length of stay without increasing operative time or complications. The observed shift in drainage distribution supports the mechanism that LPP reduces POAF by effectively mitigating local pericardial fluid retention.

- First-Trimester Cardiac Myxoma Diagnosed at 12 Weeks with Postmortem Validation. [Journal Article]
- Primary cardiac tumors are extremely rare in fetal life, with rhabdomyomas being the most frequently encountered. In contrast, fetal cardiac myxomas are exceptionally uncommon, and reports of diagnosis during the first trimester are exceedingly rare. We report a fetal right atrial myxoma diagnosed at 12 weeks' gestation. Fetal echocardiography revealed a hyperechoic, pedunculated mass originating…

- A cheesy exudate: a case report on management of pericardial disease through multimodal cardiac imaging. [Case Reports]Eur Heart J Case Rep. 2026 Apr; 10(4):ytag261.EH
- Cholesterol pericardial effusion is a rare diagnosis and typically not associated with the development of pericardial constriction. However, covariate factors, such as Rheumatoid arthritis, myxoedema, and comorbid disease requiring anticoagulation, can predispose to developing dense adhesions that ultimately can cause pericardial constriction and constrictive physiology. This can develop without …

- Left atrial appendage closure devices: a contemporary review of techniques, tips and tricks. [Review]Front Cardiovasc Med. 2026; 13:1767568.FC
- Atrial fibrillation (AF) affects approximately 3%-5% of adults and is projected to double in prevalence by 2060, significantly increasing the burden of thromboembolic stroke. This risk is largely attributed to thrombus formation within the left atrial appendage (LAA), particularly in nonvalvular AF, where the LAA's trabeculated anatomy, diverse morphologies (e.g., chicken wing, windsock, cactus, …
