- Cardioimmunology of Myocarditis: Targeting the IL-1 Pathway. [Review]Curr Cardiol Rep. 2026 Jul 03; 28(1).CC
- Myocarditis is a heterogeneous inflammatory syndrome with aetiologies ranging from viral infection and drug hypersensitivity to systemic autoimmune/autoinflammatory disease and immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy. In response to these triggers, the innate immune response and inflammasome activation can amplify myocardial injury via IL-1, providing a mechanistic rationale for IL-1 pathway in…

- [Analysis of cardiovascular adverse events associated with 8 immune checkpoint inhibitors based on the FAERS database]. [Journal Article]Zhong Nan Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban. 2026 Apr 28; 51(4):612-623.ZN
- CONCLUSIONS: Cardiovascular adverse events associated with ICIs in the FAERS database commonly include myocarditis, pericarditis, arrhythmias, and vasculitis, with relatively high proportions of severe outcomes and mortality. Therefore, pre-treatment risk screening, close monitoring during therapy, and multidisciplinary management of cardiovascular adverse events are essential to ensure patient safety.

- Cardiac involvement in Behçet's syndrome: findings from a clinically driven cardiological evaluation. [Journal Article]Rheumatology (Oxford). 2026 Jul 02. [Online ahead of print]R
- CONCLUSIONS: Cardiac involvement in BS is more common than traditionally reported when actively investigated. Cardiac involvement frequently occurs during active disease and in patients with a high burden of cardiovascular risk factors but suboptimal preventive therapy. These findings support the need for integrated cardio-rheumatologic management in BS.

- Cardiac Risk After Heart-Sparing Breast Radiotherapy. [Journal Article]JAMA Oncol. 2026 Jul 02. [Online ahead of print]JO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cross-sectional study of heart-sparing breast radiotherapy, LAD dose was associated with cardiac events, whereas whole-heart metrics was not. These findings support LAD-based planning and respiratory motion management to reduce long-term cardiovascular risk in patients with breast cancer undergoing radiotherapy.

- Mini-Thoracotomy Versus Subxiphoid Pericardial Window: Two Cases of Hemodynamically Significant Pericardial Effusions. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e110065.C
- Pericardial effusions can progress to cardiac tamponade, a life-threatening condition that requires immediate management. Although the first-line treatment for cardiac tamponade is pericardiocentesis, a surgical approach becomes necessary to create a pericardial window in cases of failure to drain, recurrence, or loculated effusions or in unsafe percutaneous procedures. We present two cases of he…

- We report an autopsy case of a man in his early 80s who was found deceased, submerged in a bathtub at home. He had no history of regular medical care or smoking. One month before death, he experienced vomiting, malaise, and reduced appetite; however, due to limited clinical information, it was unclear whether he exhibited symptoms suggestive of cerebellar dysfunction. The autopsy showed fibrinous…

- Pulsed Field Ablation Is Associated With Fewer Post-Procedural Pericardial Inflammatory Symptoms Compared With Radiofrequency Ablation. [Journal Article]J Cardiovasc Electrophysiol. 2026 Jun 30. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: PFA was associated with fewer post-procedural pericardial inflammatory symptoms, reduced need for anti-inflammatory therapy, and faster recovery compared with RFA. These findings suggest reduced pericardial irritation and improved patient-centered recovery after AF ablation.

- Management of pericarditis: recent advances. [Journal Article]Pol Arch Intern Med. 2026 Jun 29. [Online ahead of print]PA
- Pericarditis is the most frequent pericardial syndrome and a common cause of chest pain in emergency and cardiology practice. During the past two decades, management has moved from largely empirical anti-inflammatory treatment towards a mechanism-based, risk-stratified, and imaging-supported approach. Diagnosis remains clinical, based on typical chest pain, pericardial rub, electrocardiographic c…

- Postcardiac injury syndrome after pulsed field ablation for atrial fibrillation: a case report. [Case Reports]Eur Heart J Case Rep. 2026 Jun; 10(6):ytag444.EH
- Postcardiac injury syndrome (PCIS) is an uncommon inflammatory complication after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF). While pericarditis is well described following thermal ablation, reports after pulsed-field ablation (PFA) remain rare.

- CONCLUSIONS: Our report signifies the inaugural utilisation of synovial RNA sequencing to confirm the pathogenicity of a PRG4 variant, marking a significant stride in the diagnostic landscape of genetic arthropathies. Importantly, it sheds light on the crucial consideration of JIA mimics during atypical clinical presentations. The realisation that the disease course and clinical features do not align with the anticipated pattern underscores the necessity of broadening the diagnostic scope beyond conventional frameworks.

- Autoantibodies against adenosine deaminase acting on RNA1 (ADAR1) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: its relationship to clinical features and other autoantibodies. [Journal Article]Mod Rheumatol. 2026 Jun 27. [Online ahead of print]MR
- CONCLUSIONS: Anti-ADAR1 antibodies are frequently detected in SLE and IIM, but are rare in RA. These antibodies are enriched in a subset of SLE cases characterized by coordinated production of antibodies against RNA-binding proteins within an IFN-related immunological context. These findings suggest that anti-ADAR1 antibodies may contribute to immunological stratification of SLE.

- Early Safety Profile Using Pulsed Field Ablation: Prospective Multicenter DISRUPT-AF Study. [Journal Article]JACC Clin Electrophysiol. 2026 Jun 23. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this multicenter, prospective U.S. registry, PFA demonstrated a low rate of procedure/device-related AEs. The absence of injury to the esophagus, phrenic nerve, and pulmonary veins highlights a tissue-selective profile that may represent a meaningful safety advantage over traditional thermal ablation, pending further direct comparisons.
