- Metabolic Dysregulation, Inflammation, and Median Nerve Dysfunction in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. [Journal Article]Int J Mol Sci. 2026 May 30; 27(11).IJ
- Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common compressive mononeuropathy. In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), chronic hyperglycemia, microangiopathy, and systemic inflammation increase the vulnerability of peripheral nerves to compression. This study aimed to assess the relationship between CTS severity and clinical, metabolic, inflammatory, and electrophysiological parameters in …

- Divergent Roles of VEGF and TNF-α in Functional Impairment Among Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. [Journal Article]Int J Mol Sci. 2026 May 30; 27(11).IJ
- Upper limb disorders, including carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), are a common cause of pain, functional limitations, and reduced quality of life. Increasing attention has been directed toward the role of inflammatory and angiogenic mediators in the pathophysiology of CTS and their potential relationship with patient-reported functional outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate selected cytokin…

- Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common entrapment neuropathy and a frequent indication for hand surgery. Symptoms range from intermittent nocturnal paraesthesia to persistent sensory loss and thenar muscle weakness, often with functional impact and socioeconomic burden. Diagnosis is clinical, supported by neurophysiological exams. Mild CTS is usually managed conservatively, while surgica…

- The frequency of the palmaris longus tendon in patients who have undergone carpal tunnel release surgery: A case-control study. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Jun 05; 105(23):e49070.M
- The presence of palmaris longus (PL) tendon negatively affects carpal tunnel syndrome. The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency of PL in patients who undergone carpal tunnel release (CTR). Seventy patients with CTR and tightly matched 70 controls were included in this study. All participants were evaluated for demographics, and patients were also evaluated for postoperative featu…

- Risk Factors for Recurrence and Reoperation after Surgical Treatment of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome: A Narrative Review. [Review]Ortop Traumatol Rehabil. 2026 Mar 31; 28(1):1-14.OT
- <p>Background. Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common compression neuropathy in the upper limb. The outcomes of operative treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome are predictable to some extent. Approximately 70-80% of patients are satisfied with the good long-term outcomes, but the remaining 20-30% benefits less or even are dissatisfied with the treatment. Moreover, in 7-24% recurre…

- Atraumatic intraneural heterotopic ossification of the common peroneal nerve: illustrative case. [Journal Article]J Neurosurg Case Lessons. 2026 Jun 08; 11(23).JN
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the atypical presentation of NO, diagnostic workup, and surgical interventions. It emphasizes the need for a high index of suspicion in patients with unexplained, progressive mononeuropathies. When conventional imaging and electrodiagnostic studies are inconclusive, early referral for advanced imaging and specialist evaluation may be critical. Delayed recognition can result in significant neurological impairment. https://thejns.org/doi/10.3171/CASE25623.

- Median Nerve Injury and Repair After Pediatric Elbow Dislocation Without an Associated Fracture: A Case Report. [Case Reports]JBJS Case Connect. 2026 Apr 01; 16(2).JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The median nerve neurotmesis after elbow dislocation without an associated fracture is rare. This case highlights the importance of careful neurologic examination in children sustaining simple elbow dislocations and surgical exploration if there is evidence of severe injury.

- Surgical Decision Making Among Black Adults With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. [Journal Article]JAMA Netw Open. 2026 Jun 01; 9(6):e2616833.JN
- CONCLUSIONS: In this qualitative study, surgical decisions among Black patients with CTS were associated with a complex interplay of physical, social, cultural, and financial factors. Culturally tailored shared decision-making that respects patient autonomy, acknowledges financial constraints, and integrates community perspectives may reduce disparities and improve surgical engagement.

- Terminal branching pattern of posterior tibial artery in the tarsal tunnel: a cadaveric study with its clinical importance in medial ankle surgeries. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The majority of PTA bifurcations occur proximal to or at the level of the DML. This high prevalence of proximal branching suggests that surgical incisions for medial ankle exposure are statistically safer when positioned at or distal to the DML to avoid iatrogenic arterial trauma.

- Postoperative common peroneal nerve (CPN) entrapment is a common iatrogenic cause of foot drop, and an established rehabilitation protocol is currently lacking. This article provides a step-by-step visual demonstration of an integrated approach, combining ultrasound-guided hydrodissection with structured task-oriented rehabilitation. The protocol includes: (1) real-time ultrasound identification …

- Femoral nerve palsy in brace treatment for developmental dysplasia of the hip : incidence and outcomes in a prospective international cohort. [Multicenter Study]Bone Joint J. 2026 Jun 01; 108-B(6):840-846.BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This is the largest multinational study to date evaluating the incidence and risk factors for the development of a femoral nerve palsy in these children. The incidence of femoral nerve palsy was 3.1%. The severity of DDH was identified as a significant risk factor for its development. The use of a Pavlik harness was significantly associated with the development of a femoral nerve palsy. Understanding the factors which influence its development will be important to optimize outcomes of treatment in children with DDH.
