- CONCLUSIONS: Hand surgeons can successfully identify patients with elevated HbA1c, particularly in the range of prediabetes where the disease state is more reversible. Point-of-care HbA1c testing could be incorporated into hand surgery practices as a low-cost and rapid intervention to optimise outcomes of surgery and facilitate earlier treatment of hyperglycemia.

- Forearm position-dependent variations in the carpal tunnel safe zone: an ultrasonographic anatomical rationale for a pronation-based injection concept. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Forearm pronation is associated with widening of the median nerve-ulnar artery interval at the carpal tunnel inlet in healthy adults. These findings describe a position-dependent anatomical variation that may be relevant to future studies of pronation-based injection planning; however, procedural application requires clinical validation.

- A unique anatomic variation of the piriformis muscle and its clinical considerations. [Case Reports]Folia Morphol (Warsz). 2026; 85:e01726138.FM
- Variations in the anatomy of the piriformis muscle hold clinical significance because of their potential impact on sciatic nerve compression and piriformis syndrome. This case report documents a rare anatomical variation in which the piriformis muscle had two heads of origin and three muscle bellies, each with an independent tendon, identified during cadaveric dissection. This tripartite variant …

- Fibrous and muscular components of the tarsal tunnel roof; a quantitative 3D anatomical study using dissection and a digital microscribe. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: These data strongly suggest that this unique, multi-tissue organisation of the roof, needs to be further assessed when surgically decompressing the contents of the tarsal tunnel. This may inform more accurate techniques for tarsal tunnel release.

- Likely radiation-induced sciatic neuropathy in a dog. [Case Reports]J Vet Intern Med. 2026 Jul 01; 40(4).JV
- Radiation-induced peripheral neuropathy (RIPN) is a well-known late adverse effect of radiotherapy (RT) in humans, but to date, is not reported in companion animals. An 11-year-old spayed female beagle was presented for evaluation regarding a progressive left sciatic neuropathy. The dog had received stereotactic RT (20 Gy) following excision of a grade 2 soft tissue sarcoma over the proximo-cauda…

- Nonsystemic Vasculitic Neuropathy Presenting as Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy. [Case Reports]J Peripher Nerv Syst. 2026 Sep; 31(3):e70158.JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Vasculitic neuropathy may closely mimic CIDP clinically, radiologically, and electrophysiologically. Clues to the vasculitis diagnosis were prominent neuropathic pain, dense denervation on electrophysiology, and poor response to typical CIDP treatment. Peripheral nerve biopsy remains a critical tool in the evaluation of atypical or treatment-refractory inflammatory neuropathies.

- Sciatica: Evaluation and Management in Orthopedic Spine Patients. [Journal Article]Orthop Nurs. 2026 Jul-Aug 01; 45(4):230-242.ON
- Sciatica is a common condition in middle-aged and older adults, typically presenting as unilateral low back and buttock pain radiating down the posterior leg. Additional symptoms may include paresthesia and weakness. Common causes include disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, vertebral fractures, and, more rarely, congenital stenosis or tumors. Patients frequently report inc…

- Metabolic and bariatric surgery achieves durable weight loss and meaningful improvement in obesity-related comorbidities yet carries a risk of neurological complications that remains under-recognised in routine clinical practice. This systematic review, registered with PROSPERO (CRD42024591611) and conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses…

- [Effects of wrist dorsiflexion and palmar flexion on median nerve displacement and cross-sectional area in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Gu Shang. 2026 Jul 25; 39(7):715-9.ZG
- CONCLUSIONS: Wrist dorsiflexion and palmar flexion significantly affect the displacement and cross-sectional area of the median nerve in patients with CTS. High-frequency ultrasonography is an effective tool for detecting these changes and assessing the severity of CTS, warranting its clinical application.
