  • Post-streptococcal Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis in an Immunocompetent Adult. [Case Reports]
Cureus. 2026 Mar; 18(3):e106139.Keramane HZ, Tahmazian S, … Levine DLC
  • Secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare and life-threatening hyperinflammatory syndrome that can occur after acute infection, predominantly caused by viruses. Due to its nonspecific presentation and clinical overlap with conditions like sepsis, HLH is frequently underrecognized in adults. We present the case of an immunocompetent adult admitted with undifferentiated shock, wh…
  • A case report of nonrheumatic myocarditis following group G streptococcus pharyngitis. [Case Reports]
Radiol Case Rep. 2026 Jul; 21(7):2867-2873.Perkins SJ, Lim JGS, … Bhave NMRC
  • Infectious myocarditis commonly presents following viral illness. Patients with myocarditis are at increased risk of cardiomyopathy, cardiogenic shock, and ventricular tachyarrhythmias. However, due to the rarity of post-bacterial myocarditis, less is known about the presentation, treatment, and prognosis of patients in this sub-population. In particular, myocarditis attributed to group G strepto…

  • Parvovirus B19: how to interpret semi-quantitative viraemia values during high circulation of the virus in the population. [Journal Article]
Epidemiol Mikrobiol Imunol. 2026; 75(1):15-23.Nepovímová L, Prášil P, Kukla REM
  • CONCLUSIONS: To diagnose parvovirus B19 infection, it is important to know the possible clinical courses and typical laboratory findings, to have access to rapid PCR testing with quantitative viraemia values, and to be able to interpret these data. We consider viraemia levels of 10[7] copies/ml and above within a week of the onset of symptoms to confirm the diagnosis. Lower values need to be interpreted with caution. Based on the duration of symptoms and clinical course, we can consider an immunopathological reaction caused by parvovirus B19 or an incidental finding of viraemia in another diagnosis, especially when there is a high circulation of the virus in the population.
