- Lipemic anterior chamber mimicking uveitis in severe hypertriglyceridemia a case report and literature review. [Journal Article]BMC Ophthalmol. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Early-onset type 2 diabetes patients are prone to metabolic dysregulation under physiological/metabolic stress. Persistent hyperglycemia/hyperlipidemia may compromise microvascular integrity and increase permeability, potentially leading to lipid-protein leakage into the anterior chamber (lipemic aqueous humor)-a hypothetical association due to lack of aqueous humor biochemical analysis. This milky exudate is easily misdiagnosed as infectious keratitis, especially with normal B-scan findings. Meticulous slit-lamp examination, adjunctive AS-OCT/UBM, and systemic metabolic evaluation are crucial for accurate diagnosis. Clinicians should promptly assess serum glucose/lipid levels in young patients with milky anterior chamber opacities to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary interventions.

- Discordance between methionine PET and histopathology in intracranial teratoma: a case report. [Case Reports]Childs Nerv Syst. 2026 May 05; 42(1).CN
- Carbon-11 methionine positron emission tomography (11C-methionine PET; Met-PET) is widely used in neuro-oncology for preoperative tumor characterization, differentiating recurrence from radiation necrosis, and determining stereotactic biopsy targets. Although its role in gliomas has been well established, evidence supporting its value in germ cell tumors, particularly teratomas, remains limited. …

- Effectiveness of an Oral Supplementation of Phycocyanin and Palmitoylethanolamide for a Short-Term Prophylaxis of Menstrual Migraine: A Retrospective Observational Study. [Journal Article]Biomedicines. 2026 Apr 10; 14(4).B
- Background: Menstrual migraine (MM), including pure menstrual migraine (PMM) and menstrually related migraine (MRM), is characterized by attacks occurring in close temporal association with menstruation and is often more severe, longer lasting, and less responsive to treatment than non-menstrual migraine. Prostaglandin-mediated inflammation and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) release play …

- Efficacy, tolerability, and threshold effect of atropine eye drops for myopia control: A systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis. [Review]Surv Ophthalmol. 2026 May 01. [Online ahead of print]SO
- Atropine is an emerging therapy for myopia, yet the optimal concentration for prescription remains uncertain. We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, World Health Organization International Clinical Trials, and ClinicalTrials.gov registry platforms. We included the randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that compared any dose of atropine against a placebo in myopic children. Amon…

- Secondary Intracranial Hypertension Mimicking Meningitis in an Immunosuppressed Patient With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Mar; 18(3):e105996.C
- Intracranial hypertension can mimic acute meningitis, especially in immunosuppressed patients presenting with fever and meningism, often prompting urgent empirical treatment. Distinguishing infectious from non-infectious causes is crucial to avoid unnecessary antimicrobials and delayed diagnosis. We report a 20-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus on rituximab and a recent corticoster…

- Pediatric pseudotumor cerebri syndrome (PTCS) is an uncommon cause of raised intracranial pressure in children. We report a case of PTCS temporally associated with standard-dose oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC). A 6-year-old boy (20 kg) presented with 1 week of worsening nocturnal headaches, vomiting, and photophobia. Examination revealed bilateral optic disc swelling. Brain magnetic resonance imaging…

- Recurrent benign lymphocytic meningitis (RBLM) or Mollaret meningitis is an uncommon manifestation of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) infection, characterized by self-limiting aseptic meningitis with complete recovery between episodes. Despite high background prevalence of HSV-2 in people living with HIV (PLWH), RBLM remains extremely rare in this population. Only two cases, both involving fe…

- CONCLUSIONS: The development of leptomeningeal disease in an ovarian cancer patient early in her treatment pathway with apparent good response to systemic therapy is exceedingly unusual. This case posed challenges both in diagnosis and in management, with limited evidence available to guide choice of therapy. Unfortunately, the response to PARP inhibitor in this patient could not be assessed due to her rapid deterioration.
