- Post COVID REspiratory mechanisms and the efficacy of a breathing exercise intervention for DYsregulated breathing (Remedy): A feasibility RCT study. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Chron Respir Dis. 2026 Jan-Dec; 23:14799731261454679.CR
- BackgroundDysregulated breathing is a major cause of persisting breathlessness for many people following acute COVID-19 illness. There is little evidence to support the use of breathing interventions within this population.MethodsA feasibility study was conducted to investigate the potential role of supervised, remote online yogic breathing as an intervention, compared to usual care. The interven…

- Prediction of risk stratification in acute pulmonary embolism using a combined CTPA radiomics and machine learning model. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Jun 12; 105(24):e49227.M
- This study extracted radiomics features of blood clots from computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) images of acute pulmonary embolism (APE) patients, and constructs a predictive model for APE patient risk stratification by comparing multiple machine learning (ML) algorithms. This retrospective study analyzed patients with APE, documenting their clinical characteristics (clinical and hem…

- Avoiding pneumonectomy in chronic complete lung atelectasis: sleeve right upper lobectomy for right main bronchus obstruction-case report. [Case Reports]AME Case Rep. 2026; 10:119.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: Even in cases of prolonged complete lung atelectasis due to main bronchial obstruction, lung-sparing resection is feasible and effective. It avoids pneumonectomy and is not associated with increased perioperative or long-term complications.

- The spectrum of legionnaires' disease: a case series illustrating clinical diversity and outcomes. [Case Reports]AME Case Rep. 2026; 10:85.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series reinforces the variable clinical presentation of Legionnaires' disease and emphasizes the critical importance of clinical suspicion in patients with atypical pneumonia, particularly those with risk factors including advanced age, comorbidities, or exposure to aerosolized water sources. Early recognition and appropriate antimicrobial therapy are essential to reduce morbidity and mortality.

- Doege-Potter syndrome in a patient with solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura: a rare cause of refractory hypoglycemia-a case report. [Case Reports]AME Case Rep. 2026; 10:107.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: A systematic approach is essential in the management of DPS, a rare but potentially aggressive paraneoplastic condition. Complete surgical resection remains the treatment of choice and typically results in rapid metabolic resolution. As the role of adjuvant therapy is not yet well established, accurate histopathological evaluation, appropriate risk stratification, and long-term surveillance are crucial to optimize outcomes and detect recurrence early.

- Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) combined with a three-way stopcock for mediastinal cysts through negative pressure drainage: a case report. [Case Reports]AME Case Rep. 2026; 10:101.AC
- CONCLUSIONS: While EBUS-TBNA serves as a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic tool for cystic lesions, postoperative infection remains a significant concern, particularly during necrotic cavity puncture. EBUS-TBNA combined with negative pressure drainage of the three-way stopcock optimizes the workflow to prevent spillage and may potentially mitigate infection risks by maintaining a closed system. While long-term outcomes require further observation, this technique may represent a feasible adjunct to EBUS-TBNA in selected patients with mediastinal cystic lesions.

- End-of-life care: A retrospective study comparing sarcoma and patients with carcinoma. [Journal Article]Tumori. 2026 Jun 15; :3008916261446214. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: In our series, patients with sarcoma had a substantially higher risk of experiencing refractory symptoms requiring palliative sedation compared to patients with the most common cancers. Pain and dyspnea were the most common refractory symptoms in patients with sarcoma, resulting in higher dosages of opioids and possibly impacting sedation deepness. This study suggests that patients with sarcoma may pose special challenges to end-of-life care.

- Warm Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia Presenting 21 Years After Liver Transplantation: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 Jun 16; 27:e953089.AJ
- BACKGROUND Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is characterized by immune-mediated premature red blood cell destruction. Although AIHA has been reported after solid organ transplantation, it remains uncommon, and very late-onset presentations occurring decades after transplantation are rare. Both warm and cold AIHA have been reported after transplant. Reported etiologies include immune dysregulati…
