  • Malignant transformation of a testosterone-secreting ovarian steroid cell tumor: a case report. [Case Reports]
    Gynecol Oncol Rep. 2026 Jun; 65:102092.Desai R, Bravo D, … Cowan MGO
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case presents a rare ovarian steroid cell tumor, not otherwise specified, initially managed with unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and surveillance given its benign pathologic features. Three years later, the patient developed malignant recurrence. Despite complete surgical cytoreduction and administration of platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy, the patient experienced disease progression. This case highlights the potential for malignant transformation in benign-appearing SCT-NOS and underscores the importance of counseling patients on the rare risk of recurrence and the need for novel therapeutic strategies in recurrent disease. Integration of clinical, pathologic, and molecular data may improve risk stratification and management of this rare tumor.
  • Development of a diagnostic nomogram for tuberculous pleural effusion. [Journal Article]
J Clin Tuberc Other Mycobact Dis. 2026 Aug; 44:100609.Ha TM, Huynh TC, … Nguyen CHJC
  • CONCLUSIONS: This nomogram, based on routine laboratory biomarkers, provides a highly accurate and cost-effective tool for diagnosing TPE, particularly in resource-limited, high-burden settings. External validation in larger and more diverse populations is still required.
  • Non-typhoidal Salmonella empyema in an immunocompromised patient. [Case Reports]
    IDCases. 2026; 44:e02579.Rafiq H, Cerono G, … Shah AI
  • Non-typhoidal Salmonella infections commonly manifest as enterocolitis, bacteremia, osteomyelitis, and meningitis. However, pleural involvement is rare. Our patient was a 65-year-old immunocompromised male with alcoholic cirrhosis. He presented with shortness of breath for five days and was found to have a large loculated pleural effusion on imaging. The patient underwent surgical decortication a…
  • Chylous Ascites: A Rare Initial Presentation of High-Grade Follicular Lymphoma. [Journal Article]
    Case Rep Oncol Med. 2026; 2026:5559043.Nada R, Gvajaia A, … Raji MCR
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights chylous ascites as a rare but important presenting feature of lymphoma. Its recognition should prompt early histopathologic evaluation and multidisciplinary management. In selected postoperative or frail patients, rituximab monotherapy can serve as an effective bridge to full chemotherapy, facilitating recovery and improving outcomes. Early diagnosis and targeted treatment remain essential to prevent complications from lymphatic loss and to optimize prognosis in lymphoma-associated chylous ascites.
  • Pleuritis Induced by Brigatinib During the Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. [Journal Article]
Respirol Case Rep. 2026 May; 14:e70598.Yano S, Hwang MH, … Hirai ARC
  • This report describes the first documented case of brigatinib-induced pleuritis in a patient with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer. A 77-year-old woman developed dyspnoea, fever, elevated inflammatory markers, and bilateral pleural effusion shortly after starting brigatinib as third-line therapy. Pleural fluid analysis showed lymphocyte-predominant exudative effusion without evidence of ma…
  • Pleural effusion associated with Strongyloides stercoralis hyperinfection in a splenectomised dog. [Case Reports]
    Parasitol Int. 2026 May 03; :103293. [Online ahead of print]Schlachet A, Peters L, … Schuller SPI
  • Strongyloides stercoralis is a soil-transmitted helminth that is increasingly reported in dogs across Europe. While most infections are subclinical, hyperinfection syndrome, marked by excessive larval proliferation and systemic spread, can occur in immunocompromised hosts. An 11-year-old male Boston Terrier dog, originating from southern France with a history of chronic diarrhoea and recent splen…
