- Seminal Vesicle Mass Fistulising to the Rectum: A Rare Urological Presentation of Lung Cancer Metastasis. [Journal Article]Reports (MDPI). 2026 Jul 04; 9(3).R
- Metastatic involvement of the male genitourinary tract by lung cancer is exceedingly rare. We report a 56-year-old man with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma (initial stage T3N2M1b) under pembrolizumab, who presented with severe pelvic pain. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography demonstrated a large mass with an imaging epicentre favouring the left seminal vesicle, involving the …

- Spontaneous Closure of a Post-biopsy Rectoprostatic Fistula via Dual Urinary Diversion: A Case Report and Review of Conservative Management. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e109821.C
- Rectoprostatic fistula (RPF) is an exceedingly rare but severe complication of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided prostate biopsy. It typically represents the terminal stage of a post-biopsy prostatic abscess that perforates the Denonvilliers' fascia. We present a case of RPF successfully managed through a conservative "urinary-first" strategy. A 70-year-old male with type 2 diabetes mellitus a…

- Colovesical fistula following sigmoid resection: A complex postoperative complication assessed by multimodal imaging. [Case Reports]Radiol Case Rep. 2026 Sep; 21(9):3766-3771.RC
- Colovesical fistula (CVF) is an uncommon but clinically significant complication of diverticular disease and colorectal surgery, particularly in the postoperative setting. We report the case of a 49-year-old man who developed pneumaturia and fecaluria following elective sigmoid resection for diverticulitis. Sequential imaging with contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and a water-soluble con…

- Laparoscopic Resection of a Colovesical Fistula Secondary to Diverticulitis Using Near-Infrared Fluorescent Ureteral Catheters. [Case Reports]Surg Case Rep. 2026; 12(1).SC
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the feasibility of laparoscopic management of colovesical fistula and demonstrates the usefulness of NIRFUCs in ensuring ureteral safety during challenging pelvic surgery, especially in the era of minimally invasive surgery where fluorescence compensates for the lack of tactile feedback.

- Clinical and surgical management of recto-urinary fistula after radical prostatectomy: a systematic review on current evidence. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: RUF after RP remains a challenging complication, often requiring stepwise management. Conservative treatments rarely succeed, and surgery is often necessary. Our proposed algorithm aims to standardize the approach to RI and RUF, guiding treatment decisions and improving outcomes.

- A rare case of colorectal duplication with rectourethral fistula in a child: diagnostic challenges and surgical management from Northwest Ethiopia. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Colorectal duplication with rectourethral fistula is a rare condition that may present with overlapping features of other colorectal disorders. Careful clinical evaluation, appropriate imaging, and staged surgical management are essential for optimal outcomes, particularly in resource-limited settings.

- A case of late-diagnosed colovesical fistula leading to complete colonic obstruction and urethral fecal diversion. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: CVF diagnosis is still challenging. Profound diagnostic delay can result in significant fistula enlargement. Nevertheless, surgical intervention remains the treatment of choice even in cases of delayed presentation and demonstrates favorable outcomes.

- Emergency orchidectomy: a rare complication of diverticular colovesical fistula. [Case Reports]J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Mar; 2026(3):rjag164.JS
- Acute epididymo-orchitis (AEO) is an uncommon complication of colovesical fistula (CVF). We present the first documented case of a patient requiring emergency orchidectomy for recurrent AEO, complicated by intratesticular necrosis and a scrotal wall abscess, secondary to an undiagnosed diverticular CVF. Definitive management involved a laparoscopic high anterior resection, employing trans anal na…

- Long-term patient-reported outcomes of open urorectal fistula repair after prostate cancer treatment. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Open URF repair achieves durable URF closure with favourable long-term outcomes, even in complex cases. Patient satisfaction is high, while moderate urinary incontinence persists in some, likely reflecting underlying disease. Voiding and faecal continence remain largely preserved.

- StatPearls: Colovesicular Fistula [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- A fistula is an irregular connection between two epithelialized surfaces. It can be classified or named based on which organs it connects. A connection between the colon and the bladder is termed a “colovesicular fistula.” To understand this disease process and the operative planning, clinicians must understand the intricate anatomy of the pelvis and the organs it contains. Anatomy Sigmoid Co…
- Testicular Ischaemia Following Diverticulitis Complicated by Colovesical Fistula: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We report what is, to our knowledge, the first documented case. This case highlights the need for vigilance for genitourinary symptoms in diverticulitis. Prompt recognition is vital to prevent irreversible testicular loss.

- Intractable Diarrhea due to Enterovesical Fistula Caused by Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection with Bladder Outlet Obstruction: A Rare Clinical Presentation of "Urinary Diarrhea". [Case Reports]Intern Med. 2026 Aug 15; 65(16):2197-2204.IM
- An enterovesical fistula (EVF) is an abnormal connection between the intestinal tract and urinary bladder, typically developing with symptoms of pneumaturia and fecaluria. We herein present the case of an 81-year-old man with 10-day watery diarrhea. After ineffective empiric antidiarrheal treatment, computed tomography and cystography revealed EVF and gas in the bladder lumen and within its wall.…

- The Diagnostic Journey in Fistulizing Sigmoid Diverticulitis: A Multicenter Retrospective Study and Proposal for a Structured Workup. [Multicenter Study]Dig Dis. 2026; 44(2):147-155.DD
- CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic workup for fistulizing diverticulitis remains heterogeneous and may contribute to treatment delays. Based on our findings, we propose a structured, symptom-guided diagnostic algorithm centered around early recognition, targeted use of high-yield modalities - including colonoscopy, cystoscopy, CT, and the poppy seed test - and prompt referral for surgical treatment. Standardization may improve diagnostic efficiency and reduce patient morbidity. </p>.

- "Robotic-assisted surgical management of a post-brachytherapy rectoprostatic fistula: a case report". [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of robotic-assisted surgical management for complex radiation-induced rectoprostatic fistulas. The novel technique of rectal rotation with mesorectal interposition may provide additional protection against recurrent fistula formation compared to conventional approaches. This innovative robotic approach could be considered in selected patients with extensive radiation-induced tissue damage where traditional repair techniques may be insufficient, potentially offering improved outcomes in this challenging clinical scenario.
