- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) randomized clinical trials: predicting sex differences in enrollment patterns. [Journal Article]Psychiatry Res. 2026 Aug 17; 365:117404. [Online ahead of print]PR
- CONCLUSIONS: Female patients are under-enrolled in PTSD RCTs compared to population-based expectations. Eligibility criteria emphasizing male-dominant subpopulations (e.g., military cohorts, comorbid substance use) appear to contribute to these disparities.

- Stress-coping behavior during predator odor exposure is associated with differences in decision making. [Journal Article]Addict Neurosci. 2026 Sep; 20.AN
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) are chronic psychiatric disorders that have overlapping symptomology and risk factors, including altered motivation and impulsive behavior. Exposure to a predator odor stressor (2,3,5-Trimethyl-3-Thiazoline (TMT)) produces PTSD-like symptomology in rats. Individual differences in stress-coping behaviors such as freezing and defe…

- Priorities for public health preparedness for psychedelics: education, workforce readiness, and strategic information needs in a rapidly changing landscape. [Journal Article]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1900601.FP
- Use of psychedelic substances is increasing across unregulated, state-regulated, research, ceremonial/religious, and medical settings in the United States. Concurrently, a growing body of clinical research signals the potential for therapeutic applications for specific psychedelics in the treatment of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, and other health conditions…

- Methodological fragmentation and integration priorities in psychedelic-assisted therapy assessment: a scoping review. [Systematic Review]Front Psychiatry. 2026; 17:1880744.FP
- Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) is an emerging complex intervention for psychiatric and existential conditions (i.e., forms of distress related to meaning, mortality, and identity, such as that arising in life-threatening illness); however, a systematic characterization of the evaluation methods used across the entire clinical intervention remains incomplete. This scoping review synthesizes th…

- Dual regulatory mechanisms of the ZI-LHb circuit in SPS&S model mice: dissociable control of aversion and anxiety through distinct downstream targets. [Journal Article]
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) involves maladaptive aversion processing and anxiety disorders; however, the correlation between these components and their underlying neural circuit mechanisms remains unclear. The single prolonged stress and shock (SPS&S) model reliably induced PTSD-related aversive behaviors in mice through functional reorganization of the zona incerta (ZI)→lateral habenul…

- Multicentre randomised controlled trial of a nurse-led family intervention on post-traumatic stress symptoms in families of children with cancer in China: protocol for the SCCIP-N trial. [Journal Article]BMJ Open. 2026 Aug 19; 16(8):e119064.BO
- Post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) are prevalent among children with cancer and their families. Although family-based interventions such as the Surviving Cancer Competently Intervention Programme (SCCIP) are effective, their reliance on mental health specialists limits scalability, highlighting the need for nurse-led approaches. This trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of SCCIP-N, a nurse-led …

- Daily-life associations between posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms, affect, and posttrauma cognitions in the context of the processing of positive memories. [Journal Article]Eur J Psychotraumatol. 2026 Dec; 17(1):2703327.EJ
- Background: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is characterized by daily fluctuations in cognitive and affective processes. Little is known about how these processes relate to PTSD severity before and after individuals engage in a therapeutic intervention. Objective: This study used a daily diary design to examine same-day and next-day associations of affect and posttrauma cognitions with posttr…

- Exploring anxiety as a potential mediator of the association between home destruction and PTSD symptoms among hemodialysis patients in Gaza after 7th Oct 2023. [Journal Article]PLOS Ment Health. 2026; 3(8):e0000682.PM
- Home destruction is a severe traumatic event strongly associated with psychological distress, particularly in conflict settings. Hemodialysis patients face heightened vulnerability due to chronic illness and dependence on continuous medical care. This study examined whether anxiety mediates the relationship between home destruction and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among hemodialysis pati…

- Post-traumatic amnesia is associated with increased arousal and reactivity symptoms following acquired brain injury. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The present findings challenge the traditional "amnesia-protection" hypothesis and support a more nuanced understanding of post-traumatic stress symptoms following acquired brain injury. Trauma-related emotional responses may persist despite impaired autobiographical memory for the traumatic event, highlighting the need for multidimensional approaches to the assessment of post-traumatic stress symptoms in this population.

- Psychological outcomes following digital replantation and revascularization: A narrative review. [Review]J Hand Microsurg. 2026 Sep; 18(5):100492.JH
- CONCLUSIONS: There is a pervasive gap in the reporting of psychological and psychosocial outcomes following digital replantation and revascularization. Existing evidence demonstrates that psychiatric morbidity is more common than is currently reflected in traditional surgical outcome reporting. Standardized, validated psychological screening instruments should be incorporated into replantation outcome reporting, and multidisciplinary care models inclusive of behavioral health are warranted.

- This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in military veterans. A comprehensive search of electronic databases identified 9 randomized controlled trials involving 444 veterans that met inclusion criteria. The primary outcomes were changes in PTSD symptom severity measured by th…

- A systematic review culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CaCBT) for Arabic-speaking populations including North African subgroups. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: The available evidence suggests that culturally adapted CBT may be a promising intervention for Arabic-speaking populations, including North African subgroups. However, conclusions should be interpreted cautiously given the methodological heterogeneity of the evidence base, the predominance of studies involving broader Arabic-speaking populations, high attrition rates in digital interventions, and the limited reporting of participants' countries of origin and migration-related characteristics. Future research should employ more rigorous designs, recruit more diverse and representative samples, and improve the reporting of cultural adaptation processes to strengthen the evidence base and inform culturally responsive mental health care.

- CRHR2 activation by urocortins regulates splenic microbiota-immune-brain axis in a single prolonged stress model of post-traumatic stress in male rats. [Journal Article]Neuropeptides. 2026 Aug 14; 119:102651. [Online ahead of print]N
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with dysfunction of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis, accompanied by alterations in immune function, microbiota composition, and brain regions, including the hippocampus. CRHR2 receptor agonists, urocortin 2 (UCN2) and urocortin 3 (UCN3), regulate stress-related neuroendocrine activity. The present study aimed to investigate h…
