- Evaluating right ventricle and pulmonary pressure changes after foam sclerotherapy injection for great saphenous vein incompetence. [Journal Article]Phlebology. 2026 May 07; :2683555261451569. [Online ahead of print]P
- BackgroundUltrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) is a minimally invasive procedure recommended for the management of chronic venous disease, particularly for varicose veins and saphenous trunk insufficiency, although rare, systemic effects may occur. The study aims to evaluate the impact of UGFS on pulmonary artery pressure and right ventricular function through indirect echocardiographic me…

- Nationwide Analysis of Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis Hospitalizations. [Journal Article]J Clin Rheumatol. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: In this nationally representative cohort, in‑hospital mortality for EGPA was 2.75%. Renal, infectious, cardiac, CNS, GI, and pulmonary complications were strongly associated with death. These findings underscore the need for early recognition and aggressive management of organ‑threatening disease and infection in hospitalized EGPA patients.

- [Early preeclampsia associated with hydatidiform mole and pulmonary metastasis: A case report]. [Case Reports]Rev Med Inst Mex Seguro Soc. 2026 May 06; 64(3):e6752.RM
- CONCLUSIONS: The onset of preeclampsia before 20 weeks should raise suspicion of GTD. Timely, multidisciplinary management can achieve full disease resolution, preserve fertility, and avoid long-term sequelae, even in advanced clinical scenarios.

- Multivariable genome-wide analysis elucidates the shared genetic architecture, immunosenescence features, and gut-origin therapeutic targets of ulcerative colitis-associated multisystem inflammation. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: UC-MIGA represents a genetically coherent architecture driven by super-enhancer-mediated epigenetic dysregulation, Th17/Treg imbalance, and immunosenescence features, including telomere dysfunction and B-cell exhaustion. The 'developmental vulnerability-environmental trigger' model explains the gut-origin inflammatory cascade underlying extraintestinal manifestations, with UC-telomere analysis providing a genomic foundation for systemic therapeutic strategies targeting the inflammation-aging nexus.

- The role of intraoperative tranexamic acid in transurethral resection of the prostate: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised-controlled trials. [Review]Int Urol Nephrol. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]IU
- CONCLUSIONS: Intraoperative administration of TXA is safe and effective in reducing intraoperative blood loss, operative time and postoperative haemoglobin (Hb) drop with resultant decrease in blood transfusion requirements. This meta-analysis did not detect any significant increase in venous thrombosis or risk of pulmonary embolism incurred by TXA administration.

- ECG Changes in Tetralogy of Fallot: Association with Right Ventricular Function, Early Age of Repair and Prematurity. [Journal Article]
- Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patients are at risk for long-term adverse events. Electrocardiogram (ECG) abnormalities may reflect ventricular maladaptation and predict complications. We investigated whether ECG changes correlated with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) measures of right ventricular (RV) function and their prevalence in less mature myocardium (prematurity or early repair). This…

- Exosomal miR-27a-3p promotes osteosarcoma lung metastasis by negatively regulating TNFAIP3 to form a premetastatic niche. [Journal Article]Mol Genet Genomics. 2026 May 07; 301(1).MG
- Osteosarcoma (OS) is a highly aggressive primary bone malignancy with a strong predilection for lung metastasis, and the formation of a lung pre-metastatic niche represents a key early event driving OS distant dissemination. Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of pre-metastatic niche establishment is therefore critical for developing novel anti-metastatic therapies for OS. However, the mechanism…

- Clinical Impact of Preoperative Sarcopenia on the Outcome of Patients With Right-Sided Colon Cancer. [Journal Article]Am Surg. 2026 May 07; :31348261450572. [Online ahead of print]AS
- IntroductionSarcopenia is recognized as a predictor of adverse outcomes in colorectal cancer, but evidence regarding its impact specifically in right-sided colon cancer remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of sarcopenia in patients undergoing colectomy for right-sided colon cancer.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed 228 patients with right-sided colon adenocarc…

- An Abbreviated Assessment Tool for Detection of Pulmonary Hypertension in Patients With Interstitial Lung Disease. [Journal Article]Pulm Circ. 2026 Jun; 16:e70316.PC
- Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a major complication of interstitial lung disease (ILD) and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Early recognition of PH in ILD is crucial for guiding diagnostic evaluation, initiating treatment, and considering lung transplantation. The previously developed PH-ILD Detection Tool by Parikh et al. incorporated eight variables to stratify patients int…

- An 8-month-old intact male Labrador retriever dog from New Brunswick was referred to the Atlantic Veterinary College Small Animal Internal Medicine service (Prince Edward Island) for evaluation of marked hypercalcemia, polyuria-polydipsia, and urinary incontinence. Thoracic radiographs revealed a nonspecific, patchy-to-diffuse, interstitial-to-alveolar lung pattern, despite the absence of respira…
