- Chrysin Attenuates Dry Eye Progression by Suppressing NOX2-Dependent Ferroptosis and STING/NLRP3-Mediated Inflammatory Responses. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Jun 01; 67(6):15.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Chrysin inhibits ferroptosis and inflammatory responses in corneal epithelial cells and improves ocular surface homeostasis in dry eye by suppressing the NOX2/ROS and STING/NLRP3 signaling pathways.

- Assisting the blind to reach daily objects using smart glasses. [Journal Article]Displays. 2026 Jul; 93.D
- Searching for objects in their surrounding is challenging for blind and visually impaired individuals (BVI) in daily life. Current assistive technologies powered by large language models (LLMs) and vision language models (VLMs) can offer BVI scene descriptions through conversations. However, communication is often inefficient in helping BVI to reach daily objects or destinations, because those ge…

- Atypical Cause of Headache: A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall in Acute Medicine. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e108412.C
- Acute headache is a common clinical presentation with a broad differential diagnosis, ranging from benign to life-threatening conditions. Early recognition of atypical causes is essential, particularly when initial investigations are inconclusive. The etiology of acute headache can be broadly classified into primary and secondary causes. Primary headaches occur in the absence of identifiable stru…

- Acral lentiginous melanoma metastases to the vitreous masquerading as uveitis: A case report. [Case Reports]Am J Ophthalmol Case Rep. 2026 Sep; 43:102601.AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Several atypical, red flags in this patient may serve as clinical indicators; history of malignancy with locoregional progression, timing of immune CPI therapy to symptom onset, failure to treatment response, and large white, amelanotic vitreous cells arranged in veils. This case emphasizes the importance of maintaining a broad differential diagnosis in patients with atypical, or treatment resistant uveitis, especially in individuals with known underlying malignancy.

- A systems approach to the diagnosis and management of vision‑threatening ocular changes in midface trauma: a narrative review and proposed practical framework. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: A systems-based approach may improve the early detection and management of vision-threatening ocular injuries in patients with midface trauma. The proposed framework aims to reduce preventable visual loss, standardize multidisciplinary care pathways, and support future prospective evaluation of clinical outcomes.

- Public awareness, health care-seeking behaviors, and barriers to care for acute abdominal pain in Jordan: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Turk J Surg. 2026 Jun 04; 42(2):156-166.TJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Most participants had fair to good knowledge and a positive attitude toward AAP, yet a significant proportion opted for self-management over seeking medical help. The main barriers to seeking care included long waiting times, and distrust in healthcare providers. Well-coordinated education campaigns and system-level interventions are advocated to overcome the existing barriers and improve outcome for AAP in Jordan.

- Surfactant-free polymer microspheres with molecular confinement-enabled optical encoding for dual-color immunochromatographic assays. [Journal Article]
- A surfactant-free, confinement-assisted optical encoding strategy is presented for preparing color-encoded poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid) microspheres as polymeric chromogenic probes for dual-color immunochromatographic assays. Hydrophobic dyes were immobilized within styrene-rich polymer domains, while the carboxyl-enriched shell remained accessible for antibody conjugation. The obtained micr…

- Development and validation of a novel and graded colour saturation threshold test, the LSS-8. [Journal Article]BMC Ophthalmol. 2026 May 30. [Online ahead of print]BO
- Colour vision changes are a key clinical feature of many acquired retinal and optic nerve disorders. Current clinical tests are often labour-intensive or designed for congenital defects. We introduce the novel LSS-8 test, which measures colour saturation thresholds across eight hues. Three cohorts with mixed ocular health underwent testing in a diagnostic crossover study. The reliability cohort w…

- Prospective Data Curation Enables High-Performance Artificial Intelligence for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening in a Resource-Limited Setting. [Journal Article]Ophthalmol Sci. 2026 Jun; 6(6):101191.OS
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that rigorous prospective data collection and quality control can produce high-performing AIaMDs even with limited AI engineering resources. Locally curated datasets aligned with regional populations, equipment, and workflows can yield reliable, regulation-ready tools that advance equitable DR screening in resource-limited settings.

- A natural experiment in school lighting: observational evidence linking far-red light exposure to slower myopia progression in Chinese Uyghur schoolchildren. [Journal Article]BMC Public Health. 2026 May 30. [Online ahead of print]BP
- CONCLUSIONS: Over one year, children in classrooms with FR/NIR-enriched lighting showed slower eye growth and less myopic shift. With careful statistical adjustment, these findings suggest that changing classroom lighting could be a simple, passive way to help control myopia at the population level.
