- Exploration of key stress granule-related genes in chronic sinusitis based on transcriptomics. [Journal Article]Sci Rep. 2026 Jun 18. [Online ahead of print]SR
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) frequently induces the formation of intracellular stress granules (SGs). This study aims to identify key genes linked to both CRSwNP and SGs, offering novel perspectives for improving CRSwNP treatment and management. Data from GSE136825, GSE179265, and SG-related gene sets were retrieved from public databases. Key genes were identified via machine…

- Role of oral bacteria composition and functional gene profiles in respiratory diseases. [Multicenter Study]BMJ Open Respir Res. 2026 Jun 18; 13(1).BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Increased alpha diversity was associated with non-allergic CRS and a similar trend was seen for FVC below LLN. Bacterial composition and functional profiles of the oral microbiome differed by respiratory health status. This study is novel in exploring functional gene profiling in relation to asthma and FeNO.

- Head and Neck Manifestations in Sarcoidosis: An All of Us Research Program Matched Case-Control Study. [Journal Article]OTO Open. 2026; 10(2):e70265.OO
- CONCLUSIONS: Patients with sarcoidosis are significantly more likely to be diagnosed with sinonasal symptoms, airway and swallowing symptoms, and cranial nerve pathologies with prevalence rates higher than previously reported. Sarcoidosis of the upper airway is likely underdiagnosed and consequently undertreated, necessitating greater awareness and further exploration of the etiology of upper airway symptoms in patients with sarcoidosis.

- Orbital Plasmacytoma as Initial Presentation of Multiple Myeloma. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e108991.C
- Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy characterized by clonal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow. It represents approximately 10% of hematologic malignancies and is the most common primary bone malignancy. This disease usually occurs between the ages of 40 and 70, although it is more frequently seen in patients over 65 years of age. On the other hand, extramedullary plas…

- [Report of 24 cases of primary ciliary dyskinesia in children]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Dang Dai Er Ke Za Zhi. 2026 Jun 15; 28(6):715-721.ZD
- CONCLUSIONS: Primary ciliary dyskinesia is a rare genetic disorder with early onset, often before 6 months of age. Children presenting with chronic productive cough combined with chronic sinusitis, bronchiectasis, abundant airway secretions, and visceral inversion warrant high suspicion for this disease.

- Advancing fungal sinusitis diagnosis: a radiomics and machine learning approach. [Journal Article]BMC Med Imaging. 2026 Jun 16. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: Employing radiomic features and machine learning, specifically a refined random forest model, significantly improves fungal sinusitis diagnosis accuracy. This approach promises to minimize diagnostic errors and enhance therapeutic decisions, marking a significant advance in precise diagnostics for fungal sinusitis. However, external validation from independent institutions was not performed, representing a key limitation of the study.

- BackgroundNo prior meta-analysis has directly compared restenosis or revision rates between Draf IIb and Draf III in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) or evaluated how Type 2 versus non-Type 2 endotypes influence these outcomes.MethodsFollowing PRISMA guidelines, PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched on 5 January 2025 for studies reporting restenosis or revision after Draf IIb …

- Chronic sinonasal mucoceles are benign expansile lesions caused by obstruction of sinus drainage, resulting in mucus accumulation and potential complications including nasal obstruction, facial pain, and visual disturbances. While their clinical aspects are well-characterized, detailed histopathologic descriptions remain limited. We conducted a retrospective clinicopathologic analysis of six pati…

- Identification and analysis of endoplasmic reticulum stress-related biomarkers in chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps using bioinformatics approaches. [Journal Article]Medicine (Baltimore). 2026 Jun 12; 105(24):e49336.M
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a prevalent inflammatory disease of the sinuses that significantly diminishes patients' quality of life. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is strongly associated with the initiation and progression of numerous inflammatory diseases. This study aimed to identify ERS-related hub genes in CRSwNP using bioinformatics approaches. We combined the GS…
