- Gaps between self-perceived sinonasal symptoms, endoscopic findings, and radiographic damage in patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis. [Journal Article]Reumatol Clin (Engl Ed). 2026 Apr; 22(4):502107.RC
- CONCLUSIONS: Self-reported sinonasal symptoms correlated with PROMs, whereas associations with disease activity or damage were not evident in this cohort. Discrepancies highlight the need for GPA-specific studies integrating PROMs, standardized ENT assessments, and imaging.

- The role of adjunctive therapies in the management of recurrent rhinosinusitis: a meta-analytical approach. [Systematic Review]Front Public Health. 2026; 14:1768433.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: Adjunctive therapies significantly improve symptom control, reduce recurrence, and enhance post-operative outcomes in recurrent rhinosinusitis. Integrating these modalities into standard treatment protocols supports a multimodal, patient-centered approach to disease management. Future multicentric randomized controlled trials with standardized intervention protocols are recommended to confirm and refine these findings.

- Research progress on circRNAs in type 2 CRS. [Review]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1785434.FI
- Circular RNAs (circRNAs) constitute a recently identified class of non-coding RNAs that are widely distributed in eukaryotes. Characterized by the absence of 5' caps and 3' polyadenylated tails, circRNAs may regulate gene expression through multiple mechanisms. Recent studies have shown that certain circRNAs contain binding sites complementary to microRNAs (miRNAs), enabling them to function as m…

- Late adverse cardiovascular events after aortic valve-sparing operations in patients with Marfan Syndrome. [Journal Article]J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg. 2026 May 04. [Online ahead of print]JT
- CONCLUSIONS: Aortic valve reimplantation provides more stable aortic valve function than aortic root remodeling. Aortic dissections remain a serious problem in MFS, and strategies to reduce their incidence are needed.

- Aggressive evolution of an occipital bone ABC-like lesion with dural invasion and intradural extension: a case report. [Case Reports]Front Oncol. 2026; 16:1759191.FO
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights that skull-based lesions initially diagnosed as ABC may recur with significant dural destruction and intradural extension, and may demonstrate aggressive neoplastic evolution. Long-term imaging surveillance should be considered after resection of cranial ABC/ABC-like lesions to enable early detection of recurrence and biologic progression.

- Distribution of Eosinophils Across Multiple Paranasal Sinuses Within Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps. [Journal Article]Int Forum Allergy Rhinol. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]IF
- CONCLUSIONS: The distribution of eosinophils may differ substantially across the paranasal sinuses. Investigation of a single nasal polyp may not reflect the total inflammatory load.

- Allergic fungal rhinosinusitis and its fungal species in Eastern Mediterranean: A systematic review. [Review]J Mycol Med. 2026 Apr 16; 36(2):101624. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: AFRS in the Eastern Mediterranean has distinct fungal patterns compared to other regions, with A. flavus as the dominant pathogen. These findings highlight the importance of region-specific strategies in AFRS diagnosis and management.

- CONCLUSIONS: This case underscores the need to consider the extremely rare entity of an epidermal inclusion cyst within the differential diagnosis for chronic sinusitis and the need for careful review of imaging for surgical planning. Awareness of this presentation will facilitate accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of this rare disease.

- Biofilm adaptation and mucosal immune dysregulation in recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis: from pathogenesis to a therapeutic roadmap. [Review]Front Immunol. 2026; 17:1797096.FI
- The management of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is frequently complicated by treatment recalcitrance, a phenomenon primarily driven by the persistence of microbial biofilms. Beyond their traditional role as a physical barrier against antibiotics, recent evidence positions biofilms as sophisticated immune modulators that actively perpetuate mucosal dysbiosis. This review synthesizes the pathologica…

- RNA binding protein ZFP36L1 promotes ferroptosis in chronic rhinosinusitis by destabilizing CAMK2A mRNA and impairing mitochondrial quality control. [Journal Article]Clin Transl Med. 2026 May; 16(5):e70661.CT
- CONCLUSIONS: This study identifies ZFP36L1-CAMK2A as a contributory regulatory mechanism in CRS pathogenesis. ZFP36L1 promotes ferroptosis by destabilizing CAMK2A mRNA, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction and subsequent epithelial cell death. These findings provide new mechanistic insights into CRS progression and identify potential therapeutic targets.

- The medical management of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and aspirin-exacerbated respiratory in the biologic age. [Review]Allergy Asthma Proc. 2026 May 01; 47(3):162-169.AA
- The advent of biologic therapy for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) has allowed for substantial improvement in symptom control and reduction in medical resource utilization for patients with CRSwNP. CRSwNP is characterized by chronic symptoms (>12 weeks), including nasal congestion, hyposmia or anosmia, anterior or posterior mucopurulent drainage, and, in some pa…

- Renin-angiotensin imbalance promotes excessive fibrin deposition through M2 macrophage-derived tissue factor expression in eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Renin-angiotensin system dysregulation might contribute to nasal polyp development in patients with eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis. Angiotensin II/angiotensin II receptor type 1 axis predominance over the angiotensin (1-7)/Mas receptor axis may enhance fibrin deposition by enhancing tissue factor expression in M2 macrophages, contributing to recalcitrant nasal polyp formation.
