- Refractory nail lichen planus treated successfully with the Janus kinase 1 inhibitor abrocitinib: A case report. [Journal Article]J Int Med Res. 2026 Jun; 54(6):3000605261452882.JI
- Nail lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory condition that may be isolated to the nail, resulting in longitudinal nail ridging, trachyonychia, and splinter hemorrhages, and may be highly refractory to conventional treatment. The management of nail lichen planus remains challenging because of the lack of standardized treatment guidelines, and the efficacy of existing therapies, both topical and s…

- Successful conservative treatment of MRSA-associated infective endocarditis with concurrent candidemia in a hemodialysis patient. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In immunocompromised hemodialysis patients, dual bacterial‑fungal bloodstream infections can occur, yet not every positive fungal culture indicates endocardial involvement. Serial cultures, prompt removal of infected hardware, and targeted antimicrobial therapy can achieve cure without surgery even in the presence of sizable vegetations.

- A Comprehensive Evaluation of the Efficacy of Intense Pulsed Light and Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet Laser Treatments in Nail Psoriasis. [Journal Article]Dermatol Pract Concept. 2026 Apr 01; 16(2).DP
- CONCLUSIONS: Both IPL and Nd:YAG laser therapies are safe and effective options for nail psoriasis. IPL showed superior efficacy in nail bed involvement, whereas Nd:YAG may be preferred for leukonychia. Laser-based treatments are promising alternatives in refractory cases.

- StatPearls: Tricuspid Valve Endocarditis [BOOK]StatPearls. StatPearls Publishing: Treasure Island (FL).BOOK
- Tricuspid valve infective endocarditis (TVIE) is an uncommon entity, especially when compared to left-sided infective endocarditis. Right-sided infected infective endocarditis (RSIE) accounts for approximately 5 – 10% of all cases of infective endocarditis (IE). The overwhelming number of cases of RSIE involve the tricuspid valve with some estimates as high as 90%. The majority of TVIE are assoc…
- Infective endocarditis: Revisiting classical signs of enduring relevance. [Case Reports]Ann Pediatr Cardiol. 2026; 19(1):103-105.AP
- A 17-year-old previously healthy girl presented with 7 days of fever and classical peripheral findings including Osler's nodes, Janeway lesions, splinter hemorrhages, and Roth's spots. Echocardiography revealed a large vegetation attached to the posterior mitral leaflet. Blood culture later grew methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus. Despite antibiotic therapy, the vegetation increased in s…

- When Infective Endocarditis Masquerades as Gastrointestinal Disease: A Case Report. [Case Reports]Br J Hosp Med (Lond). 2026 Apr 16; 87(4):52972.BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights the importance of considering IE in patients with unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms and systemic features, even in the absence of visible colonic lesions. Early recognition and appropriate management may improve outcomes.

- South Asian and Chinese individuals are the largest and fastest-growing ethnoracial groups in Canada, yet they remain underrepresented in dementia research. To address this gap, we established the CAnadian Multi-Ethnic Research on Aging (CAMERA) study.

- Platelet factor 4 antibody persistence and long-term pathogenicity in vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: VITT, unlike monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic significance, appears to be a monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance-negative state, but it needs confirmation in larger studies. VITT antibodies can be composed of lambda or kappa light chains, and some patients with VITT exhibit persistent thrombocytopenia many years after the acute event.

- Foveal Micro-embolism in Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis and the Emerging Role of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps: A Case Report and Review of the Literature. [Journal Article]Retin Cases Brief Rep. 2026 Mar 30. [Online ahead of print]RC
- CONCLUSIONS: We propose this case represents a distinct embolic mechanism mediated by neutrophil extracellular traps. Recognition of this mechanism may help expand our understanding of the spectrum of embolic phenomena in endocarditis.

- A Case of Aortic Mural Thrombus Presenting as Recurrent Shoulder Pain Discovered by the Presence of Splinter Hemorrhages. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Feb; 18(2):e103027.C
- Progressive claudication of the upper extremity is uncommon and can be misattributed to cervical radiculopathy or even shoulder pathology, such as tendonitis or bursitis. We report a patient presenting to the emergency department with several months of worsening left upper-extremity pain initially managed as suspected radiculopathy, but, in retrospect, was upper-extremity claudication. This was d…

- Dermoscopy of Subungual Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Dermoscopy reliably identifies features, particularly hyperkeratosis, onycholysis, irregular margins and hemorrhagic spots, that are common in invasive subungual squamous cell carcinoma; in situ disease more commonly presents with pigmentary changes. Recognition of these signs should lower the threshold for biopsy of suspicious single-digit nail lesions and may facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment.
