- Extreme Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Pediatric Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106450.C
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in childhood is characterized by marked phenotypic heterogeneity and poses significant challenges in risk stratification for sudden cardiac death (SCD). We report the case of a 9.5-year-old girl in whom transthoracic echocardiography revealed progressive extreme interventricular septal hypertrophy (up to 33 mm; Z-score > +11), marked left atrial enlargement, redu…

- An RYR2-interacting fragment of MYBPC3 mitigates arrhythmia in human iPSC-CM and mouse models of CPVT. [Journal Article]Mol Ther. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]MT
- Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is an inherited arrhythmia caused by pathogenic variants in RYR2 that increase its diastolic Ca[2+] release. Current standard of care is insufficient to protect patients from ventricular tachycardia (VT) and sudden death. We identified RYR2 interaction with a subset of MYBPC3 in cardiomyocytes, and validated this interaction by immunost…

- Caught in Transit: Mobile Right Atrial Thrombus in Intermediate-High-Risk Pulmonary Embolism Treated With Half-Dose Alteplase. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 May 07; 27:e952646.AJ
- BACKGROUND Pulmonary embolism is associated with increased morbidity and mortality, yet the patient can sometimes look deceptively calm at the bedside. A normal blood pressure reading does not rule out a struggling right ventricle, and patients classified as intermediate-high-risk can deteriorate quickly. A mobile right-heart thrombus (clot-in-transit) adds another layer of urgency because emboli…

- Detecting early structural and functional myocardial alterations in patients with repaired tetralogy of fallot: a prospective MRI study. [Journal Article]Sci Rep. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]SR
- In patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF), right ventricular (RV) fibrosis has been associated with ventricular tachycardia, heart failure, and sudden cardiac death. Here, we aimed to identify links between diffuse myocardial fibrosis and regional mechanical dysfunction by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in rTOF. Clinical CMR was extended in 17 consecutive rTOF patients (media…

- Cardiac events after noncardiac surgery in patients with or without coronary artery stenosis based on angiography. [Journal Article]Intern Med. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]IM
- Objective The perioperative cardiac risk associated with non-cardiac surgery in patients with significant coronary artery stenosis has not been fully determined. This study aimed to assess cardiac events after non-cardiac surgery in patients with or without coronary artery stenosis (CAS) based on pre-operative coronary angiography. Methods This single-center, observational study retrospectively a…

- Catheter Ablation Versus Antiarrhythmic Drugs in the Management of Ventricular Tachycardia in Ischemic Cardiomyopathy: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. [Journal Article]Cardiol Rev. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]CR
- Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. Prior randomized controlled trials comparing catheter ablation (CA) with antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) therapy have reported inconsistent findings. We conducted an updated meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of CA versus AAD therapy in this population. Four randomized contro…

- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients without prior ASCVD, novel lipid-lowering monotherapy achieved comparable short-term outcomes to statin monotherapy, with fewer acute heart failure events, complementing the VESALIUS trial.

- The Relationship between Severe Earthquakes and Ventricular Arrhythmia in Turkey: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]Niger J Clin Pract. 2026 Apr 01; 29(4):432-436.NJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that major earthquakes may be associated with an increased incidence of VA and device therapy, particularly during the subacute period. These results emphasize the importance of carefully monitoring patients with implantable cardiac devices following major earthquakes.

- Defibrillation of persistent shockable rhythms and survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest. [Journal Article]Heart. 2026 May 04. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: A persistent shockable rhythm occurred in around one sixth of IHCAs with an initial shockable rhythm. Successive defibrillation attempts were associated with a rapid fall in survival followed by a plateau phase. These findings warrant further investigation, as patients with IHCA may also benefit from novel strategies to more rapidly terminate shockable rhythms.
