  • Chirp-Evoked Electrocochleography and Speech-in-Noise Performance in Normal-Hearing Individuals With Tinnitus. [Journal Article]
J Speech Lang Hear Res. 2026 Aug 19; :1-17. [Online ahead of print]Wang TY, Chen YF, … Chang CTJS
  • CONCLUSIONS: Although cochlear synaptopathy cannot be definitively verified without histopathological examination, the present findings suggest that combining chirp-evoked ECochG with SPIN testing may provide complementary, noninvasive information about auditory function in individuals with and without tinnitus. Together, these measures may provide insight into peripheral and central mechanisms contributing to tinnitus and speech-in-noise perception.
  • Biomarkers of Subjective Tinnitus Presence and Clinical Burden: A Systematic Review. [Review]
    Hear Res. 2026 Aug 07; 481:109770. [Online ahead of print]Shields N, Arulchelvan E, … Vanneste SHR
  • Despite being common and clinically burdensome, subjective tinnitus is diagnosed and characterised primarily through subjective reporting. Objective biomarkers could transform tinnitus care by enabling reproducible identification, stratification, and monitoring, but their clinical utility for detecting tinnitus and quantifying its severity remains unclear. We conducted a PRISMA-guided systematic …
  • Molecular Biomarkers in Meniere's Disease: A Scoping Review of Current Evidence. [Review]
Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]Kamran H, Jimoh Z, … Gomaa NAOH
  • CONCLUSIONS: Molecular biomarkers offer critical insights into MD pathogenesis as well as potential diagnostic and therapeutic advancements. However, methodological variability and lack of replication necessitate standardized validation before formal clinical application.

  • Vestibulocochlear infarct, most commonly associated with infarction of a terminal branch of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery, presents with acute vertigo and sensorineural hearing loss. It often mimics peripheral vestibular disorders and may show no abnormal findings on neuroimaging, making the diagnosis particularly challenging. Without appropriate treatment, permanent unilateral hearing …
