Traditional herbal medicine, which utilizes herbal materials for complementary, alternative, and integrative therapies, has seen increasing application across diverse medical fields in recent decades, including the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To our knowledge, no bibliometric analyses have been conducted over the past 3 decades to evaluate the global research landscape of herbal medicine applications in IBD treatment. We performed a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science database in the past 3 decades (1990-2023), focusing on studies related to IBD treatments involving herbal medicines, including decoctions, formulas, herbal plants, and natural derivatives. By our analysis, China emerged as the most productive country in this field, with Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine contributing the highest number of publications. Hsiao Chung-Der was identified as the most prolific author, while Markus F. Neurath ranked as the most cited author. Journals such as Frontiers in Pharmacology, Journal of Ethnopharmacology, and Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine were not only the top publishers but also the most frequently cited sources. Our analysis further revealed that the most widely used herbal decoctions and herbal plants exhibit shared molecular targets and signaling pathways with therapeutic potential against IBD. This study provides a systematic, visualized, and objective evaluation of research trends, offering insights to guide future investigations in this field.

Moral injury (MI) spans biological, psychological, social, and spiritual domains, yet systematic bibliometric evaluation remains scarce. A bibliometric analysis of Scopus-indexed publications containing "moral injury" (1992-2025) was conducted using three search strategies (i) Title-Abstract-Keywords (TAK), (ii) Abstract-only (AO), and (iii) Title-only (TO). Publication types, annual trends, and the performance of authors, institutions, countries, sponsors, and journals were examined. A total of 2,081 documents were identified, including articles (1,491), reviews (164), book chapters (193), and editorials (75). TAK yielded 1,655 records, AO 1,400 records, and TO 879 records, demonstrating notable variation in dataset size. Output remained limited until 2017, followed by rapid growth from 2018, peaking in 2025. The USA led global production, followed by the UK, Canada, and Australia. TAK analysis identified the most prolific authors in this review by country: in the USA, Maguen, S. (36) and Koenig, H.G. (34); in the UK, Greenberg, N. (37) and Murphy, D. (36); in Canada, McKinnon, M.C. (23) and Nazarov, A. (21); and in Australia, Carey, L.B. (13) and Nickerson, A. (10). Other top contributors by country are also identified. Within this study, prolific institutions included VA Medical Center, King's College London, Western University, McMaster University, Duke University Medical Center, and the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Prominent journals were 'Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy', the 'European Journal of Psychotraumatology', 'Traumatology', 'Frontiers in Psychiatry', and the 'Journal of Religion and Health'. Title-based co-word analysis (AO and TO datasets) identified ten thematic clusters covering psychological outcomes, military and healthcare contexts, ethics, assessment, and interventions. Analysis of the top 100 most cited papers highlighted five foundational themes in conceptualization, measurement, mental health outcomes, and treatment approaches. MI research expanded rapidly after 2018, emphasizing the need for methodological transparency through a bibliometric study across multidisciplinary fields. While not all authors/coauthors or their respective institutions and nations have been acknowledged within this analysis of MI research, nevertheless the significant leaders have been identified, as have a number of key research and clinical themes. Search strategy selection however, substantially determines dataset size, contributor visibility, and thematic representation, hence a number of limitations regarding this analysis are noted.

Over 50% of patients participating in cardiac rehabilitation (CR) experience poor sleep and/or, closely related, psychological stress. Although stress management interventions are generally available, they are typically underutilised in CR, and sleep remains an underaddressed component within CR. This is concerning, as poor sleep and stress not only reinforce each other but are also associated with poorer cardiovascular health and lower quality of life. Therefore, the primary aim of the OPtimising CArdiac REhabilitation by REfining Sleep and STress (RESST) study is to investigate the (cost-)effectiveness of adding a behavioural intervention targeted at improving sleep and managing stress during CR (RESST intervention) on sleep and psychological stress. Furthermore, the study aims to explore the (bidirectional) associations between sleep, stress and lifestyle behaviours.

Healthcare disparities profoundly affect healthcare delivery. Patients with disabilities remain under-recognized as a population warranting focused public health attention. The purpose of this systematic review was to identify and characterize published literature addressing access to or outcomes of orthopaedic care among people with disabilities. This study received IRB exemption. Articles published within the past five years in the top 20 highest impact factor (IF), Medline-indexed American orthopaedic surgery journals were identified through PubMed. Studies assessing access to or outcomes of orthopaedic care among underserved populations were included. Two reviewers independently screened abstracts and full-text articles and extracted data, with discrepancies resolved by consensus. A total of 124 manuscripts met the inclusion criteria. Of these, 61 (49.2%) only examined disparities in access, 36 (29.0%) examined disparities in outcomes, and 27 (21.8%) examined disparities in both access and outcomes. Commonly evaluated disparity-related factors were race (53.2% of outcomes studies and 32.6% of access studies), insurance/payor status (29.0% outcomes and 39.3% access), socioeconomic factors (45.2% outcomes and 28.1% access), ethnicity (33.9% outcomes and 19.1% access), and presence of chronic illnesses (35.5% outcomes and 30.3% access). Barriers to orthopaedic care access or orthopaedic outcomes related to disability were examined less often than those related to other underserved populations, in only 6 (5.0%) of all studies. There remains a critical gap in the orthopaedic literature regarding access to care and outcome disparities among patients with disabilities. Future research should systematically evaluate barriers faced by this population and incorporate inclusive design principles to promote equitable orthopaedic care.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is one of the leading cause of blindness in premature infants. A bibliometric analysis on intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in ROP was conducted. A comprehensive search of the article on the Scopus database was conducted with the terms related to "anti-vascular endothelial growth factor and retinopathy of prematurity." Only original research and review articles published in the English language were considered. VOSviewer version 1.6.20 was used for the visualization and analysis of the data. Publication trend, productive countries, researchers' details, commonly cited documents, source and influential journals, and keyword occurrence were analyzed. A total of 329 studies were considered, of which 270 were original articles and 59 were review articles. The highest numbers of publications were seen in the year 2022. The United States, China, Turkey, India, and Taiwan were the top 5 countries that published research on the use of anti-VEGF in ROP. The most documents were published by Wei-Chi Wu (22) and Chi-Chun Lai (14), and Falavarjani et al's article had the most citations (737). A total of 2,504 keywords were identified. All keyword analysis revealed the occurrence of "retinopathy of prematurity" and "human" as a keyword was 290 and 286 times, respectively. Most articles and citations were found in Retina. The use of anti-VEGF in ROP is constantly evolving and bibliometric analysis highlights a research trend and influential authors and journals that have published significant work on it. This article can serve as a guide to conduct a literature review for future researchers.

The Vienna Test System (VTS) is a widely used computerized tools for assessing psychology-related constructs in different populations. Our objectives were to (1) identify the available evidence on the use of VTS, (2) examine how research is conducted using VTS and, therefore, (3) draw attention to the challenges in the practical application of the VTS for assessing cognitive functions in general, athletic and clinical populations. A literature search following the JBI and PRISMA guidelines for scoping reviews was conducted in September 2024 across four databases (PubMed, Web of Science, ELSEVIER Scopus, and EBSCOhost) to identify peer-reviewed articles reporting cognitive functions measured by at least one VTS cognitive test. Of the 79 identified articles, 24 used the VTS to assess cognitive function in the general population, while 41 and 14 studies recruited participants from the athletic and clinical populations, respectively. Our analysis revealed RT (36.7% of total articles, n = 29), DT (35%, n = 28), COG (34.2%, n = 27), PP (19%, n = 15) and LVT (16.5%, n = 13) as the TOP 5 most popular tests in the VTS. Nevertheless, only two studies (2.5%, 2/79) received a modified JBI quality score above 70%, while 9 studies (11.4%, 9/79) scored between 50% and 70%. In addition, only 36.7% of the articles were published in Q1 journals, while almost one quarter (24%) were published in journals that do not even appear in the Scimago Journal Ranking. Overall, the wide spectrum of cognitive tests in the VTS has the potential to assess cognitive functions; however, quality assessments revealed that, e.g., the relatively poor experimental designs, lack of a control group, and inconsistent use of VTS tests of many included studies make it difficult to draw clear conclusions about their validity, feasibility, and reliability, highlighting the need for higher-quality studies.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in neurology research and scientific publishing. However, concerns regarding authorship, transparency, and ethical oversight have prompted journals to establish policies governing AI use. The objective of this study was to characterize the presence and content of AI-related author-guideline policies across the top 100 neurology journals and to evaluate their alignment with established editorial frameworks and AI-specific reporting guidelines.
