- Measles Outbreak in a Child Care Facility - Lubbock, Texas, March-April 2025. [Journal Article]MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep. 2026 Jun 04; 75(21):266-270.MM
- During 2025, the United States recorded the highest number of measles cases since measles elimination was declared in 2000. On March 21, 2025, Lubbock Public Health (LPH) in Texas received a report of a child care attendee aged 3 years, with fever, rash, cough, coryza, conjunctivitis, otitis media, and diarrhea who received a positive test result for measles by real-time reverse transcription-pol…

- A mixed prebiotic/probiotic intervention (MBR-01) for the management of diarrhea during abemaciclib treatment of early breast cancer in postmenopausal patients: A single-center prospective case-control pilot study. [Journal Article]Breast. 2026 Jun 01; 88:104830. [Online ahead of print]B
- CONCLUSIONS: MBR-01 may effectively mitigate abemaciclib-induced diarrhea, likely through the achievement of stabilization of gut microbiota composition. Larger prospective studies are warranted to validate these preliminary findings.

- Global burden of enteric infectious diseases, diarrhoeal diseases, and corresponding aetiologies, 1990-2023: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023. [Journal Article]Lancet Infect Dis. 2026 Jun 02. [Online ahead of print]LI
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings show that mortality and ASMRs of enteric infectious diseases declined substantially between 1990 and 2023. This decline is consistent with the expansion of public health measures and broader socioeconomic development. However, the burden in 2023 remains considerably high, with the highest mortality concentrated in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. Considering that more than a quarter of all countries had yet to meet the GAPPD mortality target in 2023, sustained efforts are needed to address the persistent burden in affected countries and to adapt to the changing global health landscape.

- Guidance for the assessment of the dietary intake and gastrointestinal or nutrition impact symptoms etiologic criterion of GLIM: A modified-Delphi study. [Review]Clin Nutr. 2026 May 28; :106643. [Online ahead of print]CN
- The GLIM malnutrition diagnostic framework includes the etiologic criterion for reduced dietary intake or assimilation (i.e., digestion or absorption). This criterion required further specification to support consistent use in clinical practice. Three rounds of a modified Delphi was undertaken to develop consensus on guidance to support identification of this criterion. A working group (n = 11) d…

- CONCLUSIONS: DEP-cabazitaxel was well tolerated and showed durable antitumour activity across advanced solid tumours, with reduced bone marrow toxicity compared to that reported for conventional cabazitaxel.

- Safety analyses of the INAVO120 randomised phase III trial of inavolisib or placebo with palbociclib-fulvestrant in patients with PIK3CA-mutated, hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, endocrine-resistant advanced breast cancer. [Journal Article]ESMO Open. 2026 May 27; 11(6):107735. [Online ahead of print]EO
- CONCLUSIONS: This analysis demonstrates the generally consistent, manageable and tolerable safety profile of inavolisib plus palbociclib-fulvestrant. Key selected adverse events were generally reversible and were controlled by concomitant medications and dose modifications.

- Osimertinib plus selumetinib in patients with EGFR-mutated advanced NSCLC with BRAF alterations post-progression on first-line osimertinib: ORCHARD. [Journal Article]Eur J Cancer. 2026 May 18; 242:116807. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Osimertinib plus selumetinib demonstrated minimal response in patients with EGFR-mutated advanced NSCLC with BRAF alterations following disease progression on first-line osimertinib. The safety profile of the combination was consistent with the known profiles of the two individual drugs; no new safety signals were identified. Overall, the risk-benefit profile suggests further evaluation of this combination is not warranted.

- Epidemiology and Molecular Profiles of ESBL-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Urinary Tract Infections Across Jordanian Hospitals. [Journal Article]Microorganisms. 2026 May 19; 14(5).M
- Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen associated with both community-acquired and nosocomial infections. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains are increasingly implicated in urinary tract infections (UTIs), traveller's diarrhoea, bacteraemia, and sepsis. β-lactam antibiotics are commonly used for treatment; however, antimicrobial resistance has emerged largely due to the production of ex…

- Fibroblast growth factor receptor inhibition for succinate dehydrogenase-deficient gastrointestinal stromal tumors: a phase 2 trial. [Journal Article]
- While most gastrointestinal stromal tumors are driven by oncogenic mutations in KIT or PDGFRA, 10-15% exhibit functional loss of the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) complex and genome-wide DNA hypermethylation. Excess methylation in SDH-deficient gastrointestinal stromal tumors disrupts genomic insulators, inducing aberrant expression of oncogenic ligands FGF3, FGF4, and activating an autocrine sig…

- Genomic characterization of Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli lineage 2 (CS2 + CS3) by long-read sequencing reveals distinct lineage-specific genome organization. [Journal Article]
- Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a major cause of diarrhoea in children, adults and travellers in endemic regions. ETEC pathogenesis is mediated by heat-labile (LT) and heat-stable (ST) enterotoxins together with colonization factors. In this study, we characterized the chromosomal and plasmid features of twelve ETEC lineage 2 (L2) isolates, including five isolates sequenced by long-rea…

- Ultra-hypofractionated stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy for primary renal cell carcinoma: 5-year outcomes from a pooled analysis of the FASTRACK trials. [Clinical Trial, Phase II]Lancet Oncol. 2026 Jun; 27(6):721-728.LO
- CONCLUSIONS: This pooled analysis from two clinical trials of SABR in patients with larger primary kidney tumours unsuitable for surgery supports evidence of long-term local control and low rate of severe adverse events. These results support further investigation through a randomised trial comparing SABR with surgery in select operable patients.

- A Phase 1b Study of Botensilimab and Balstilimab in Treatment-Refractory Hepatocellular Carcinoma. [Journal Article]Liver Cancer. 2026 Mar 30. [Online ahead of print]LC
- CONCLUSIONS: The BOT+BAL combination demonstrated durable responses and manageable safety in treatment-refractory patients with HCC previously treated with immunotherapy, supporting further investigation in randomized studies. Despite the small sample size and high percentage of patients with albumin-bilirubin grade 2 liver disease, these results provide early evidence of antitumor activity in a difficult-to-treat disease setting.

- CONCLUSIONS: In this series, adjuvant SBRT in PC was associated with acceptable tolerability with no ≥G3 toxicity. A longer follow-up is needed to fully characterize late toxicity. The final results are awaited to confirm the safety and efficacy of SBRT as a new therapeutic option for patients with resected PC.
