- Restoring Continence After Devastating Post-Obstetric Fistula Repair Incontinence: A Pilot Study Comparing Cystoscopic vs Periurethral Bulkamid. [Journal Article]Neurourol Urodyn. 2026 Aug 10. [Online ahead of print]NU
- CONCLUSIONS: Bulkamid provided promising short-term outcomes for SUI in women with POFRI. Both cystoscopic and periurethral approaches were effective, the periurethral technique was simpler and avoided cystoscopy. Larger studies with longer follow-up are needed.

- Delayed Vesicocutaneous Fistula 18 Years After Tension-Free Vaginal Tape: A Rare Case Report. [Case Reports]Int Med Case Rep J. 2026; 19:580339.IM
- CONCLUSIONS: Vesicocutaneous fistula after TVT is rare but serious; chronic mesh-tissue interactions, compounded by comorbidities such as diabetes and estrogen deficiency, can lead to delayed erosion and fistula years postoperatively. This case highlights the importance of early recognition of urinary symptoms, timely surgical management, and ongoing long-term surveillance, even when initial surgery is technically successful.

- Interventional radiology in the management of vascular complications in urogynecology: a lower-extremity hematoma after transobturator sling-case report. [Case Reports]Front Reprod Health. 2026; 8:1871761.FR
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights a large lower-extremity hematoma as a rare vascular complication associated with transobturator sling surgery and emphasizes the importance of an individualized diagnostic approach. Interventional radiology may serve as a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic tool, allowing exclusion of active bleeding and avoidance of unnecessary surgical reintervention, thereby optimizing patient outcomes.

- Urethral Diverticulum in a 45-Year-Old Woman: A Case Report and Review of the Literature. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jun; 18(6):e111284.C
- Female urethral diverticulum involves the herniation of the urethral mucosa into the anterior vaginal wall. These lesions may communicate with the urethra and cause urinary symptoms. Its diagnosis requires clinical and imaging confirmation. We report a case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with dysuria, pollakiuria, post-micturition dribbling, dyspareunia, and recurrent urinary tract infectio…

- Return to routine household and community functions following uncomplicated caesarean delivery: ultra-short versus traditional hospital-stay; a randomized controlled trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Women who had the ultra-short post-operative management protocol following uncomplicated Caesarean delivery returned to household and community functions faster than those who had the traditional hospital-stay protocol. Hospitals (especially in low resource settings) may adopt the ultra-short post-operative management protocol after uncomplicated Caesarean delivery, to enhance quicker return to function.

- Short-Term Success Rate and Risk Factors for Failure of the Urethral Plication Procedure in the Management of Post-Obstetric Fistula Closure Stress Urinary Incontinence Among Ugandan Women: A Prospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Int J Womens Health. 2026; 18:610063.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: The short-term success rate of the urethral plication procedure is moderately high, and in carefully selected women, it appears to be a safe and effective option for managing post-obstetric fistula closure stress urinary incontinence. Although the procedure is more likely to fail in women with severe vaginal scarring, the severity of the incontinence improves in those that fail.

- Vaginal mucosal necrosis following traditional vaginal cauterization in Somalia: a case report. [Case Reports]J Surg Case Rep. 2026 May; 2026(5):rjag351.JS
- Traditional vaginal cauterization is practiced in some low-resource settings, including Somalia, for gynecological complaints. Unregulated thermal exposure may cause severe tissue destruction. Circumferential full-thickness vaginal necrosis requiring reconstruction is extremely rare. A 70-year-old multiparous Somali woman presented with severe vaginal pain, foul discharge, fever, and urinary rete…

- Carcinoma of the Vulva. [Review]Radiographics. 2026 May; 46(5):e250139.R
- Vulvar cancer is a rare gynecologic malignancy with a higher incidence in postmenopausal women. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common histologic subtype (>90% of cases). The majority of affected patients are symptomatic and present with vulvar pruritus, bloody discharge, pain, and/or a palpable mass. The disease is staged by using the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FI…

- Characteristics Associated with Failure of Obstetric Fistula Surgery. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this population of women undergoing obstetric VVaF/UVaF repair, patients having undergone more surgeries and those with greater tissue fibrosis had greater odds of failed fistula closure. This emphasizes the importance of the initial fistula repair surgery as the best chance for fistula closure in these patients sustaining life-changing pelvic floor injury.

- Urethral leiomyoma mimicking urethral diverticulum: a rare case report and brief literature review. [Case Reports]Transl Androl Urol. 2026 Mar 15; 15(3):92.TA
- CONCLUSIONS: Mid-urethral leiomyoma can mimic urethral diverticulum. Careful MRI review for a solid lesion without luminal communication, followed by complete local excision that preserves urethral integrity, leads to accurate diagnosis and excellent short-term outcomes. This report provides practical imaging and operative cues for periurethral smooth-muscle tumors.

- Incidental diagnosis of genital tuberculosis in a prepubertal girl presenting with acute urinary retention: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Genital tuberculosis-associated hematocolpos with imperforate hymen is a rare condition that can delay diagnosis, leading to increased reproductive morbidity. Considering this, treating doctors should carefully evaluate such patients. Tubercular hematocolpos should be considered in the differential diagnosis of prepubertal girls presenting with obstructive genital anomalies, particularly in tuberculosis-endemic nations. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate management, including hymenotomy and antitubercular therapy, are crucial to avoid misdiagnosis and delayed management.
