- Early outcomes of transverse perineal support in obstructed defecation syndrome with pathological perineal descent; a prospective cohort study. [Journal Article]BMC Surg. 2026 Jun 06; 26(1).BS
- CONCLUSIONS: Transverse perineal support procedure may be an effective option for selected patients with ODS and pathological PD. Outcomes were less favorable in patients with rectal intussusception, older age (observed as an association only, not causation) or smaller perineal body dimensions, underscoring the importance of careful patient selection and individualized surgical planning. Given the small sample size and the absence of a control group, these findings should be interpreted with caution as associational rather than causal.

- "Why children with anorectal malformations need urological evaluation: Insights from a retrospective study". [Journal Article]J Pediatr Urol. 2026 May 27; :106044. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: LUTD constitutes a fundamental concern for the entire population of children with ARM, regardless of the height of malformation. Although patients with associated spinal anomalies face a disproportionately higher risk, the absence of such anomalies does not rule out the possibility of LUTD. These findings support the implementation of systematic and mandatory urological surveillance programs for all ARM patients to ensure early detection and intervention.

- Parenchymal neurocysticercosis complicated by hydrocephalus: A rare case report with mechanistic insights. [Case Reports]Parasitol Int. 2026 Jun 04; :103316. [Online ahead of print]PI
- Cerebral cysticercosis (CC), a neglected tropical disease of the central nervous system caused by Taenia solium larvae, is rarely associated with hydrocephalus in its parenchymal form. We report a 45-year-old male with a 20-year progressive course of cognitive decline, gait instability, urinary incontinence, and recurrent seizures. Epidemiological history included long-term rural residence, close…

- Prevalence of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Symptoms in Female Marathon Runners: A Cross-Sectional Study of the Santiago Marathon, Chile. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms are common among female marathon runners. While age and parity appear to be key associated factors, race distance was not associated with symptom prevalence. These results reinforce the multifactorial nature of pelvic floor dysfunction in physically active women. A substantial gap between symptom awareness and utilization of pelvic floor physiotherapy was identified, highlighting the need for improved access to care. Early screening and preventive strategies should be considered regardless of competition distance.

- Geriatric syndromes, multimorbidity, and life satisfaction among older adults in India: a cross-sectional analysis of the Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (LASI). [Journal Article]Res Sq. 2026 May 29.RS
- Background. Older adults in low- and middle-income countries are increasingly affected by both chronic-disease multimorbidity (MM) and geriatric syndromes (GS), but evidence on their joint impact on subjective well-being from the Indian subcontinent is limited. We examined the prevalence of MM and GS, and quantified their independent and joint associations with life satisfaction, in a nationally …

- Case Report: Low-frequency tibial nerve stimulation: demonstrating a novel therapeutic option for Fowler's syndrome through a pilot case series. [Case Reports]Front Urol. 2026; 6:1854503.FU
- Fowler's Syndrome is a critically under-researched area of Women's Urological health. The condition, which causes severe urinary retention in the absence of any obvious obstructive pathology, lacks any non-invasive options for treatment. Transcutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (TTNS) is an established treatment strategy for disorders of incontinence that is non-invasive, safe, and efficacious. Co…

- PIEZO1-mediated mechanosensation links aging to bladder dysfunction. [Journal Article]bioRxiv. 2026 May 25.B
- Aging is accompanied by profound changes in bladder function, leading to increased urinary frequency and incontinence that impair quality of life in humans and are recapitulated in mouse models. Bladder filling and emptying rely on precise mechanosensory feedback, yet how aging alters this sensory control remains unclear. PIEZO ion channels convert mechanical forces into cellular signals essentia…

- Pathogenesis of Male Genital Lichen Sclerosus: Autoimmunity versus the Urine/Occlusion Hypothesis - A Narrative Review. [Journal Article]Clin Exp Dermatol. 2026 Jun 05. [Online ahead of print]CE
- Male genital lichen sclerosus (MGLSc) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis with significant morbidity, yet its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. Two main hypotheses have emerged: an autoimmune model, and the urine/occlusion hypothesis, specific to male genital anatomy. This narrative review critically analyses evidence supporting each paradigm. Epidemiological data reveal that autoimm…

- Expanded classification system for urethral duplication in the female: A literature review and case report. [Journal Article]J Pediatr Urol. 2026 May 22; 22(5):106038. [Online ahead of print]JP
- CONCLUSIONS: Urethral duplication in females is a rare entity, and management decisions must be individualized. To the best of our knowledge, we have compiled the largest collection of reported female urethral duplication with descriptions of clinical, surgical and associated abnormalities. Through this data, we propose a classification system based on bladder neck and distal anatomy, focused on meaningful clinical differences between groups that may help guide counseling and management decisions.

- The association of presbyphagia with urinary incontinence and Incontinence-related quality of life in nursing home residents: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(6):e0350933.Plos
- CONCLUSIONS: Presbyphagia is independently associated with UI presence and poorer I-QOL in nursing home residents. Male gender was associated with higher UI prevalence but similar severity and I-QOL to females. These findings suggest an independent association between presbyphagia and UI, thereby contributing to the formulation of hypotheses aimed at understanding the complex interactions between oral frailty and the urinary system. Further research is needed to elucidate underlying mechanisms and explore the potential clinical implications of this association.

- CONCLUSIONS: Transdermal oxybutynin is as effective as oral oxybutynin in managing pediatric non-neurogenic OAB, with a more favorable systemic side effect profile. It represents a viable alternative for patients who experience difficulty with oral medication or intolerance to systemic anticholinergic side effects.
