- Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Transvesical Closure of a Vesicovaginal Fistula: First Report in a Teenage Girl. [Journal Article]European J Pediatr Surg Rep. 2026 Jan; 14(1):e42-e44.EJ
- Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is rare in children and is most commonly associated with retained vaginal foreign bodies. Surgical repair is technically demanding and carries a significant risk of recurrence, which has limited the application of minimally invasive approaches. We report the first pediatric case of robot-assisted laparoscopic transvesical repair of a VVF. A 14-year-old girl presented w…

- Postnatal debriefing practices and patient experiences following unexpected intrapartum interventions: A prospective study. [Journal Article]Int J Gynaecol Obstet. 2026 Aug 15. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Obstetric-led postnatal debriefing is common and valued following unexpected intrapartum interventions, when conducted early and by the clinician involved in the birth. While patient satisfaction is high, opportunities remain to improve documentation, patient education and future pregnancy planning.

- Association between bacterial vaginosis prevalence and maternal characteristics in pregnant women: Diagnostic comparison of BV Rapid Blue and Amsel's criteria. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: BV remains prevalent in pregnancy. BV Rapid Blue is a reliable, rapid diagnostic tool with high sensitivity and NPV. Early diagnosis may facilitate earlier clinical assessment and management, particularly in settings where laboratory-based diagnostics are limited.

- Vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery versus conventional multiport laparoscopy for hemorrhagic ovarian cyst rupture with hemoperitoneum: a multicenter retrospective cohort study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: In hemodynamically stable women with hemorrhagic ovarian cyst rupture, vNOTES is feasible and safe, with hemostatic efficacy comparable to CML and advantages in 12-hour pain and genital self-image. Prospective studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

- Hysteroscopic Removal of Retained Fetal Bone Fragments After Second-Trimester Miscarriage. [Journal Article]J Minim Invasive Gynecol. 2026 Aug 13. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: Retained fetal bone fragments, though rare, represent a clinically significant and likely underdiagnosed cause of secondary infertility and abnormal uterine symptoms1-5. Transvaginal ultrasound, particularly when characteristic signs are present, allows prompt diagnosis, while hysteroscopy remains the gold standard for definitive management. Advances in hysteroscopic techniques and miniaturized instruments now permit complete, safe, and fertility-preserving removal of retained fetal bone fragments. This video-report represents, to our knowledge, the first documented hysteroscopic video demonstration of this condition and highlights the pivotal role of minimally invasive hysteroscopic surgery in restoring uterine health and reproductive potential.

- Racial and ethnic differences in indications for repeat cesarean following labor after cesarean. [Journal Article]Am J Perinatol. 2026 Aug 12. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Objective Among those with a prior cesarean, Black individuals are more likely to have labor after cesarean compared to White individuals, but have lower rates of vaginal birth after cesarean following labor. However, little is known about indications for cesarean among these patients. We examined whether indication for unplanned cesarean delivery varied by race and ethnicity among individuals wi…

- A Rare Case of Endometrial Ossifying Cartilaginous Metaplasia. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112514.C
- Endometrial ossification, also described as endometrial osseous metaplasia (EOM), is a rare benign condition characterized by the presence of bone tissue within the endometrium. Its exact etiopathogenesis remains unclear, although the metaplasia of endometrial stromal cells into osteoblast-like cells has been proposed as the most accepted mechanism. Clinically, it may present with infertility, ab…

- Comparative Effects of Intravaginal Progesterone Sponge Durations (Short vs. Long Duration) With or Without Probiotics on Vaginal Microbiota Balance and Reproductive Performance in Black Iraqi Goats. [Journal Article]Vet Med Int. 2026; 2026:2031122.VM
- Intravaginal progesterone sponges have been widely utilized to synchronize estrus in goats; however, extended use may be accompanied by vaginal microbial imbalance, vaginal discharge abnormalities, and diminished reproductive performance. Intravaginal probiotics have been suggested as an alternative to antibiotics for addressing vaginal dysbiosis, but their effects across varying synchronization …

- Prevalence of restless genital syndrome among pregnant women presenting with vaginal discharge and genital symptoms. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: RGS symptoms were frequently observed among pregnant women presenting with genital complaints, such as discharge and itching. These symptoms were associated with higher levels of anxiety and depression. However, given the cross-sectional design and the symptom-based sample, these findings should be interpreted as associations rather than causal relationships. Clinicians evaluating pregnant women with genital discomfort should consider RGS in the differential diagnosis.

- Prevalence, antifungal susceptibility, and virulence determinants of Candida species causing vulvovaginal candidiasis in pregnant women in Saudi Arabia. [Journal Article]
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common opportunistic fungal infection of the female genital tract, primarily associated with Candida overgrowth influenced by host factors, hormonal changes, microbial imbalance, and environmental conditions. This study examined the prevalence, antifungal susceptibility, and virulence factors of Candida species in 440 pregnant women (ages 18-55) with vulvovagin…

- A 7-year-old female spayed Labrador retriever was presented for a 3-year history of progressive hemorrhage from the vulva. The dog previously underwent cystourethroscopy and vaginoscopy 1 year prior, and a small, raised hemorrhagic lesion was identified in the caudal vaginal wall. Following pinch biopsies of the lesion, bleeding ceased during the remainder of the procedure but recommenced within …

- Fetomaternal Outcomes of Induced versus Spontaneous Labor in an Urban Omani Hospital. [Journal Article]Oman Med J. 2026 Jan; 41(1):e791.OM
- CONCLUSIONS: Although IOL is associated with an increased risk of operative delivery, overall fetomaternal outcomes are comparable to those of spontaneous labor, supporting a similar safety profile. IOL should therefore be offered when clinically indicated. The associated possibility of longer hospital stay should be included in patient counseling and healthcare facility planning.
