- The efficacy and cerebral hemodynamics mechanisms of acupuncture on the posterior circulation ischemic stroke with vertigo: study protocol for a multicenter, randomized, controlled trial. [Journal Article]Front Neurol. 2026; 17:1768559.FN
- Posterior circulation ischemic stroke (PCIS) with vertigo is a common central vertigo disease that significantly hinders patients' motivation for rehabilitation and increases the recurrence rate and mortality among stroke patients due to recurrent episodes of vertigo. Acupuncture has shown promising therapeutic effects in the treatment of PCIS with vertigo, but its underlying mechanisms remain un…

- An analysis of Heidegger's concept of angst and death in the Ménière's disease patient. [Journal Article]Med Health Care Philos. 2026 May 06. [Online ahead of print]MH
- The current state of medical practice is going through tremendous and rapid changes. There is an increasing prevalence of burnout among physicians, where they are questioning the value of practicing medicine. There is also a growing frustration among patients over reduced access to physicians, feeling rushed at appointments and generally feeling that they are not being heard. These conditions poi…

- [Improving effects of balanced reduction manipulation for cervical physiological curvature and inflammatory response in patients with vertebroarterial cervical spondylosis]. [Journal Article]Zhongguo Gu Shang. 2026 Apr 25; 39(4):380-7.ZG
- CONCLUSIONS: Balanced reduction manipulation achieves favorable therapeutic effects in patients with vertebroarterial cervical spondylosis. It can effectively relieve clinical symptoms, alleviate vertigo, increase vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity, improve cervical physiological curvature and cervical function, and reduce inflammatory responses, and is worthy of clinical application.

- Surgical decision-making in cholesteatoma-induced labyrinthine fistula: hearing outcomes in a tertiary referral center. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Surgical management of cholesteatoma-induced labyrinthine fistula enables effective disease control with acceptable functional outcomes. Hearing preservation is generally achievable in early-stage fistulae, and even in selected advanced cases requiring partial labyrinthectomy, the applied surgical approach may allow preservation of residual hearing. These findings support an individualized, experience-based surgical approach guided by fistula characteristics and intraoperative assessment rather than fistula stage alone.

- Long-term economic and welfare consequences of Ménière's disease: a Danish nationwide matched cohort study, 2002-2016. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Ménière's disease was associated with persistently higher healthcare costs, reduced income, and greater reliance on social benefits compared with matched controls, particularly evident around and after the time of diagnosis. These findings highlight the substantial long-term economic and welfare burden of the disease.

- Vertigo Presentations to the Emergency Departments in Mersin, Türkiye: Demographics, Etiologic and Clinical Patterns. [Journal Article]J Craniofac Surg. 2026 May 05. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: ED vertigo cases in Mersin mainly affect middle-aged to older adults and often occur alongside cardiometabolic comorbidities. The use of advanced imaging correlates with age and the number of risk factors, supporting structured ED risk assessment.

- Preoperative carotid ultrasound in degenerative cervical myelopathy: from routine screening to selective use. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Carotid atherosclerotic plaque is common in patients undergoing surgery for DCM and is independently associated with age, BMI, vertigo, and increased cervical lordosis. These findings do not support mandatory preoperative carotid ultrasound screening for all DCM patients. A nomogram-based selective screening strategy using these four readily available variables may provide a practical framework for risk stratification, but its clinical utility should be interpreted cautiously pending stronger outcome-based evidence and external validation.

- A Scoping Review of Home-Based Vestibular Rehabilitation for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo Patients. [Review]Malays J Med Sci. 2025 Aug; 32(4):50-73.MJ
- Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a common vestibular disorder among older adults, characterised by dizziness and imbalance caused by the displacement of otoconia into the semicircular canals. Although canalith repositioning manoeuvres are considered the standard treatment, their high recurrence rate and the need for frequent clinic visits highlight the demand for supplementary thera…

- BackgroundVisual vertigo (VV) refers to dizziness or discomfort provoked by dynamic visual environments and is common after vestibular disorders. The Visual Vertigo Analogue Scale (VVAS) is a nine-item questionnaire developed to assess VV. However, no validated Japanese version has been available. This study aimed to translate the VVAS into Japanese (VVAS-J) and evaluate its reliability and valid…

- Vestibular Involvement in Systemic Autoimmune and Rheumatologic Diseases: A Systematic Review and GRADE-Based Assessment. [Review]J Clin Med. 2026 Apr 09; 15(8).JC
- Background: Vestibular symptoms and objective vestibular dysfunction have been reported in patients with autoimmune and rheumatologic diseases, but available evidence remains fragmented and methodologically heterogeneous. Previous studies have often addressed audiovestibular involvement as a combined entity, limiting disease-specific interpretation of vestibular outcomes. Methods: A PRISMA 2020-b…

- Episodic Ataxia Type 2 Presenting with Fluctuating Weakness in a Child with a De Novo CACNA1A Variant. [Case Reports]Children (Basel). 2026 Mar 31; 13(4).C
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights EA2 as part of a broader CACNA1A-related phenotypic continuum rather than a purely paroxysmal disorder. Awareness of atypical and age-dependent manifestations is crucial to avoid diagnostic pitfalls and to facilitate the timely initiation of targeted therapy and appropriate developmental support.

- Intracochlear PLGA implants for simultaneous controlled release of multiple drugs. [Journal Article]J Control Release. 2026 May 01; :114977. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Reliable drug delivery to the inner ear is still an unmet clinical need, due to the blood cochlear barrier, which effectively protects this highly sensitive organ. To overcome this hurdle, miniaturized, biodegradable implants were prepared (0.3 mm in diameter), which can be administered into the cochlea via a tiny hole drilled into the round window. They were based on poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid…
