- Data from a UK-based multicentre randomised feasibility study investigating the management of post-traumatic benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: mixed-methods analyses. [Randomized Controlled Trial]BMJ Open. 2026 Jun 16; 16(6):e117657.BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Integration of qualitative and quantitative data revealed new findings relating to the primary outcomes of the feasibility study, while strengths and weaknesses of the trial design were also elucidated. Taken together, such data will influence and enhance the design of a future trial.

- Gastrodin ameliorates cognitive impairment induced by a high-salt diet combined with chronic cerebral hypoperfusion by regulating cerebral blood flow and preserving BBB-related structural integrity. [Journal Article]J Ethnopharmacol. 2026 Jun 16; :122059. [Online ahead of print]JE
- CONCLUSIONS: GAS ameliorates cognitive impairment induced by HSD exposure combined with BCAS, and this effect is associated with improved CBF, restoration of Akt/mTOR pathway-associated phosphorylation, eNOS-related endothelial regulation, preservation of BBB-related structural integrity, and attenuation of amyloidogenic processing-related and serum inflammatory marker changes. These results provide experimental support for the potential role of GAS in treating vascular cognitive impairment associated with dietary risk factors.

- Genome-wide analysis implicates inner ear development in Ménière disease. [Journal Article]Am J Hum Genet. 2026 Jun 16. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- Ménière disease (MD) is a chronic inner ear disorder characterized by recurrent vertigo, fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss, and tinnitus, but its etiology remains poorly understood. We performed a genome-wide meta-analysis of 8,969 MD case subjects and 1,962,542 control subjects across five biobanks, identifying five independent genome-wide significant loci and estimating an observed-scale S…

- Endolymphatic hydrops and its association with Magnetic Resonance Imaging and serum vitamin D levels. [Journal Article]Braz J Otorhinolaryngol. 2026 Jun 16; 92(5):101858. [Online ahead of print]BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D is directly associated with contralateral slow phase velocity and low-frequency-pure tone audiometry, suggesting its correlation with episodic vertigo and fluctuating hearing loss. Early vitamin D supplementation may improve fluctuating hearing loss and vertigo in Meniere's disease patients with endolymphatic hydrops.

- Temperature effects on survival and dormancy patterns across age groups in vulnerable land snail Vertigo moulinsiana. [Journal Article]
- The Desmoulin's whorl snail, Vertigo moulinsiana (Dupuy, 1849) (Gastropoda: Vertiginidae), an endangered micro-mollusc listed as Vulnerable in Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive, uses aestivation to survive environmental stress. This study aims to evaluate the effects of constant versus fluctuating thermal regimes on survival and activation dynamics of V. moulinsiana. Specimens from each age g…

- Non-syndromic Developmental Facial Palsy Co-occurring With Chiari I Malformation: Parallel Manifestations of a Shared Prenatal Disturbance? [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 May; 18(5):e108906.C
- Congenital facial palsy most commonly results from perinatal trauma. Developmental causes are rare and typically occur within syndromic constellations such as Möbius, Goldenhar, or CHARGE (coloboma, heart defects, atresia choanae, retarded growth, genital abnormalities, ear anomalies). Non-syndromic developmental facial palsy (DFP) is exceedingly uncommon and is thought to arise from disturbances…

- One of the most common complaints in ENT clinics is dizziness. Although most cases are caused by vestibular neuritis and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), a significant number of patients experience non-vestibular dizziness. One non-vestibular cause is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which presents with symptoms similar to vestibular migraine (VM) and persistent postu…

- Brain computed tomography (CT) findings in patients with vertigo and without focal neurological abnormalities in the emergency department of a tertiary center in Saudi Arabia: a retrospective study. [Journal Article]BMC Emerg Med. 2026 Jun 16. [Online ahead of print]BE
- CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic yield of non-contrast brain CT in isolated vertigo without focal deficits is extremely low, particularly in patients without vascular comorbidities. Imaging decisions should be guided by risk stratification, reserving CT for patients with cardiovascular risk factors or concerning clinical features. A selective imaging strategy may reduce unnecessary testing and optimize resource use without compromising patient safety.

- Subarachnoid and intraventricular dissemination of silicone oil: an under-recognised radiological diagnosis. [Case Reports]BMJ Case Rep. 2026 Jun 15; 19(6).BC
- A woman aged in her 50s presented with sudden onset of vertigo, headaches and epistaxis, initially attributed to her background of chronic systemic hypertension. Ophthalmological history was significant for bilateral proliferative diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment managed with vitrectomy, endolaser and intraocular silicone oil 5 years prior to the current presentation. Review of the ini…

- Does semicircular canal radiation increase the risk of new vestibulopathy after Gamma Knife radiosurgery for vestibular schwannoma? [Journal Article]J Neurooncol. 2026 Jun 15; 178(2).JN
- CONCLUSIONS: Higher SCC maximum dose was associated with increased risk of acute incident vestibular symptoms after GKRS. The 10.5-11 Gy range may represent an exploratory risk threshold but should not be considered a validated dose constraint without prospective validation.

- External Carotid Artery-to-Vertebral Artery Bypass With Craniocervical Vertebral Artery Decompression for Vertebrobasilar Insufficiency. [Journal Article]Oper Neurosurg. 2026 Jun 15. [Online ahead of print]ON
- CONCLUSIONS: ECA-to-V3 VA bypass with atlantoaxial decompression is a safe and effective surgical option for patients with medically refractory VBI, offering durable symptom control and a low risk of neurological complications. Although postoperative neck discomfort is not uncommon, the overall safety profile and efficacy of the procedure support its consideration in carefully selected patients.

- Intraoperative High Resolution 2D and 3D Angiography in Cervical Decompression for Sub-Axial Bow Hunter's Syndrome. [Journal Article]World Neurosurg. 2026 Jun 12; :125125. [Online ahead of print]WN
- Bow hunter's syndrome (BHS) causes vertebrobasilar insufficiency when head rotation compresses the vertebral artery (VA).[1,2] Although classically craniocervical, subaxial cases from osteophytic V2 compression lack standardized management with treatments ranging from decompression to stenting.[3-5] During decompression, intraoperative VA patency confirmation is essential, as static postoperative…
