- Scoring Systems in Vitiligo-A Narrative Review. [Journal Article]Indian Dermatol Online J. 2026 Aug 21. [Online ahead of print]ID
- Vitiligo is an acquired autoimmune disorder with a worldwide prevalence of 0.5-1%. It is characterized by depigmented macules caused by the absence of melanocytes in the epidermis. The aim of the treatment for vitiligo is disease stabilization and repigmentation. Hence, different scores have been developed to assess disease severity and repigmentation in order to infer the therapeutic efficacy of …

- Methodological strategies for mapping HLA susceptibility loci in vitiligo: A focused minireview. [Review]World J Methodol. 2026 Sep 20; 16(3):112691.WJ
- Some genes, such as HLA class I and class II genes, play important roles in the pathogenesis of vitiligo and its associated autoimmune diseases. Attempts to identify these genes have involved several approaches, including analysis of HLA expression patterns, genetic association studies, and genome-wide association studies. These strategies employ a variety of laboratory techniques, each with dist…

- Life satisfaction among people with vitiligo: the role of social support and acceptance of the condition. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite their declared acceptance of their own appearance, patients with vitiligo often experience low mood and undertake strategies to hide their skin lesions. The results emphasise the need for holistic care, combining dermatological treatment with psychological and social support to increase patients' life satisfaction.

- Association of Serum Interleukin-17 Levels With Vitiligo: A Pilot Cross-Sectional Comparative Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Serum IL-17 levels were notably higher in vitiligo patients, correlated with disease severity, and could serve as a sensitive diagnostic marker, with levels ≥10.9 pg/mL strongly associated with the condition.

- Janus microneedles enabling orderly vitiligo treatment through spatiotemporal sequential promoting melanogenesis to transfer via PAR2 activation. [Journal Article]
- Vitiligo is characterized by a complex pathogenesis involving multiple factors, necessitating therapeutic strategies that simultaneously achieve immune regulation, melanocyte regeneration, and melanosome transfer modulation. Here, we designed a Janus microneedle (Janus MN) based on a core-shell bilayer structure, inspired by the melanin metabolism pathway and the stratified architecture of the sk…

- Vitiligo Masked by Steroid-Induced Rosacea-Like Dermatitis and Revealed by VISIA Ultraviolet Imaging: A Longitudinal Case Report. [Case Reports]
- Facial depigmentation may remain clinically unrecognized when obscured by persistent erythema associated with steroid-induced rosacea-like dermatitis (SIRD). We report a 42-year-old woman with Fitzpatrick skin phototype IV and a history of prolonged facial topical corticosteroid use who presented with persistent centrofacial erythema. Clinical examination was consistent with SIRD. Multimodal VISI…

- Economic burden of immune-mediated and psychiatric comorbidities in patients with newly diagnosed vitiligo. [Journal Article]J Manag Care Spec Pharm. 2026 Aug 18; :1-9. [Online ahead of print]JM
- CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the substantial economic burden that patients with preexisting immune-mediated and psychiatric conditions face following vitiligo diagnosis. Approximately 1 in 4 patients had a prior diagnosis of at least 1 immune-mediated condition, reflecting the immunological pathogenesis of vitiligo and that it is not a cosmetic disease. Patients with immune-mediated and psychiatric comorbidities incurred significantly higher health care costs relative to those without these comorbidities, underscoring the need for a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to vitiligo management.

- Phototherapy for Skin of Color in the Biologic Era: A Cross-Sectional Survey of Moroccan Dermatologists' Knowledge and Practice. [Journal Article]
- Background Phototherapy remains central to the treatment of inflammatory and pigmentary skin disease and is especially relevant in populations with darker skin phototypes. As biologic and targeted therapies expand, the place of phototherapy in resource-limited settings is uncertain. We assessed the knowledge, perceptions, and practice of Moroccan dermatologists regarding phototherapy and identifi…

- From depigmentation to dysmetabolism: epicardial fat thickness and atherogenic lipid ındices in vitiligo. [Journal Article]An Bras Dermatol. 2026 Aug 17; 101(5):501428. [Online ahead of print]AB
- CONCLUSIONS: Vitiligo is independently associated with increased epicardial fat, adverse triglyceride-related atherogenic indices, and subtle cardiac structural alterations, even without overt comorbidities. These findings are most pronounced in patients with higher VASI severity and acrofacial or widely distributed disease, supporting consideration of cardiovascular assessment in these subgroups.

- Real-world effectiveness of topical ruxolitinib in non-segmental vitiligo: repigmentation, mental health, and quality-of-life outcomes in an 860-patient multicentre study. [Journal Article]Br J Dermatol. 2026 Aug 17. [Online ahead of print]BJ
- CONCLUSIONS: In a large real-world population considerably more heterogeneous than registration trial cohorts, topical ruxolitinib showed progressive repigmentation through 52 weeks with excellent tolerability. Summer initiation and Koebner phenomenon independently predicted early response, findings that may inform patient counselling and the design of prospective studies. The parallel sustained reduction in anxiety and depression argues for standardised mental health assessment as a routine component of vitiligo care.

- Alopecia areata as a sentinel condition for systemic autoimmunity: a global bidirectional cohort study. [Journal Article]Dermatology. 2026 Aug 14; :1. [Online ahead of print]D
- Introduction Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune, non-scarring hair loss disorder increasingly recognized as a systemic immune-mediated condition. Previous studies examining AA-associated autoimmune diseases were limited by narrow disease scope, single-country cohorts, or lack of bidirectional and sex-stratified analyses. This study comprehensively evaluated over 50 autoimmune conditions in AA …
