- Exosomes enriched with microRNA mimics or inhibitors: A possible treatment modality for diabetic retinopathy. [Journal Article]Neural Regen Res. 2026 Aug 01. [Online ahead of print]NR
- Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of vision impairment and blindness in individuals with diabetes. Under conditions of chronic hyperglycemia and retinal hypoxia, pathological angiogenesis develops, increasing the risk of retinal hemorrhage. Disease progression is driven by oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, which activate complex signaling cascades that promote neovascularization. D…

- The Role of Baseline Traction and Diabetes Type in Predicting Recurrence After Vitrectomy for Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. [Journal Article]Clin Ophthalmol. 2026; 20:630440.CO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective secondary analysis, the crude association between T1DM and 2-year postoperative recurrence was attenuated after adjustment for age and baseline traction severity. Severe preoperative traction showed a more consistent association with recurrence, particularly recurrent TRD, than diabetes type alone. Baseline traction severity may therefore be more informative for postoperative counseling and surveillance in this cohort. External validation is warranted.

- Seasonal variation in the incidence of vitreous hemorrhage in proliferative diabetic retinopathy. [Journal Article]PLoS One. 2026; 21(8):e0355497.Plos
- CONCLUSIONS: Vitreous hemorrhage in PDR showed seasonal variations, peaking in May and June. This pattern could not be fully explained by the meteorological variables evaluated; IOP-fluctuations caused by temperature changes and systemic factors such as seasonal changes in glycemic control may contribute to this variability. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

- Vitrectomy for Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy with Asteroid Hyalosis: Contemporary Outcomes and Challenges. [Journal Article]Retina. 2026 Aug 06. [Online ahead of print]R
- CONCLUSIONS: AH increases vitreoretinal adhesion and intraoperative risk during PPV for PDR but does not preclude favorable anatomic outcomes with modern techniques. Fluorescein angiography is a valuable adjunct for detecting occult neovascularization and guiding timely surgical intervention when visualization is limited.

- Nd:YAG Laser Vitreolysis For Primary Symptomatic Vitreous Floaters : A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. [Review]Ophthalmol Retina. 2026 Jul 31. [Online ahead of print]OR
- CONCLUSIONS: Nd:YAG laser vitreolysis was associated with significant improvement in patient-reported visual function and contrast sensitivity while maintaining stable visual acuity and a favorable safety profile. Although PPV remains more definitive, Nd:YAG vitreolysis may provide meaningful low-risk symptomatic relief in appropriately selected patients with vitreous floaters amenable to Nd:YAG vitreolysis. Future large, high-quality randomized controlled trials comparing Nd:YAG vitreolysis with PPV are warranted.
