- Early-Life Wheezing and Childhood Cognition in the ECHO Cohort. [Journal Article]J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2026 Aug 21. [Online ahead of print]JA
- CONCLUSIONS: In a broad U.S. population, early-life childhood wheeze was not associated with school-aged Wechsler cognitive assessment scores. These findings highlight the importance of considering the broader socioeconomic context when interpreting associations between early-life wheezing and school-age neurocognitive development.

- Use of Nebulized Corticosteroids Beyond Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): A Scoping Review of Off-Label Respiratory and Perioperative Applications. [Review]
- Current literature suggests the potential benefits of nebulized corticosteroids (NCs), particularly budesonide and fluticasone, in the treatment of various respiratory conditions beyond their conventional application. This review aimed to comprehensively summarize the available evidence regarding the use of NCs for medical conditions beyond their conventional role in asthma and chronic obstructiv…

- Prevalence and Risk Factors of Food Allergy and Its Association With Asthma Coexistence and Severity in Bangladeshi Schoolchildren: A GIS-Based Cross-Sectional Study. [Journal Article]
- Food allergies are a critical health issue that increases susceptibility to a range of allergic disorders. However, there is limited understanding of the burden of food allergies in Bangladeshi schoolchildren. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of food allergies and their risk factors among schoolchildren in Bangladesh and to examine the relationship between food allergies and the coexi…

- Infectious Bronchitis Virus in Broiler Chickens: Seroprevalence and Associated Risk Factors. [Journal Article]Arch Razi Inst. 2025 Nov; 80(6):1507-1514.AR
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings showed a high seroprevalence of IBV in Algeria and highlight the importance of continuous surveillance and molecular characterization of persistent strains to optimize vaccination strategies against emerging variants.

- Pediatric Mild Asthma: Bridging Current Gaps to Improve Future Care. [Review]Pediatr Pulmonol. 2026 Aug; 61(8):e71800.PP
- CONCLUSIONS: In children and adolescents, asthma may seem only apparently mild, mainly due to overlooked or poorly controlled exacerbations. A more unified approach would improve clinical outcomes and reduce its global burden. Priorities include a standardized definition of the mild asthma phenotype in children and adolescents, a detailed examination of risk factors as early predictors of poor outcomes and of the limited access to medications and healthcare resources in low-income countries. Incorporating a broader global health perspective would provide a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the care of children with mild asthma worldwide.

- Mechanosensitive Piezo Channels Modulate Airway Hyper-reactivity in a Mouse Model of Neonatal CPAP. [Journal Article]Neonatology. 2026 Aug 20; :1. [Online ahead of print]N
- CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest the long-term effects of CPAP on airway function involve mechanosensitive PZ channels, which could contribute to wheezing disorders in former preterm infants who had received prior CPAP administration.

- Reliability of Physical Examination Findings in Youths Diagnosed With Pneumonia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this study, individual auscultation findings, such as decreased breath sounds, crackles, or rhonchi, did not demonstrate sufficient reliability to be used alone for diagnosis.

- Serum von Willebrand Factor and Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin Levels Are Associated With Asthma Predictive Index in Preschool Children With Recurrent Wheezing. [Journal Article]Acta Paediatr. 2026 Aug 20. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest an association between vWF, TSLP, and API status; however, longitudinal studies are required to determine their value in predicting future asthma development.

- Impacts of vaping on children and young people: a systematic review. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child. 2026 Aug 19. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Vaping has significant short and medium-term adverse health consequences for CYP. As a relatively new phenomenon, the longer-term consequences are unknown; nonetheless, current evidence indicates a stronger legal framework is required in the UK and elsewhere to protect CYP from harm.

- Characteristics of uniphasic and biphasic anaphylaxis in infants and young toddlers: An analysis of clinical signs, predictors and management. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Increased awareness of age-specific symptoms is essential for timely recognition and optimal care of infant/young toddler anaphylaxis. Cardiovascular signs, fluid resuscitation, and reaction severity may help predict recurrent anaphylaxis in 0-2-year-olds and identify which patients need observation beyond 4 h versus those safe for earlier discharge.

- Inhaled N-Acetylcysteine as a Potential Adjunctive Therapy in Mucus Plug-Forming Asthma With Irpex lacteus Isolation: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- A 68-year-old woman was hospitalized for hypoxemia during an asthma exacerbation with cough, highly tenacious sputum and exertional dyspnoea. Chest computed tomography revealed lower lobe-dominant mucus plugs. Irpex lacteus was identified from both sputum culture and environmental sampling from the patient's bedroom, although diagnostic criteria for allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis were not fulf…

- Characterization of pulmonary embolism events in patients with suspected pneumonia. [Journal Article]
- Pneumonia and pulmonary embolism (PE) share similar clinical presentations, posing a significant diagnostic challenge. We investigated whether available diagnostic modalities could identify distinct characteristics in patients suspected of pneumonia later diagnosed with PE. Patients who underwent a CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) scan on admission were retrospectively screened for suspected pneum…

- Whole-blood CD3/CD28-stimulated cytokine responses in children with preschool wheeze, asthma, and healthy controls. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: CD3/CD28-stimulated cytokine responses show highly conserved T-cell activation networks across pediatric asthma, preschool wheeze, and health, with limited ability to distinguish between clinical groups at the single-cytokine level. Nevertheless, modular network analyses identify coordinated immune patterns associated with clinical features, highlighting the potential value of immune profiling in refining biological phenotyping and advancing the understanding of immune heterogeneity in pediatric airway disease.
