- Corrective osteotomy for distal radius malunion using 3D-printed patient-specific guides and spacers: a retrospective comparative study. [Journal Article]BMC Musculoskelet Disord. 2026 May 14. [Online ahead of print]BM
- CONCLUSIONS: The 3D-printed personalized osteotomy guide plate appears to reduce operation time, minimize radiation exposure, enhance the precision of ulnar deviation angle reduction, and improve wrist joint function recovery, with a favorable safety profile. However, these findings are based on a small retrospective study and require validation in larger prospective trials before broader clinical implementation.

- Developing and Piloting a Standardized Thermography Protocol to Expedite Rheumatology Referrals for Possible Inflammatory Arthritis. [Journal Article]J Clin Rheumatol. 2026 May 11. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: IRT demonstrates potential as a reliable tool for identifying inflamed joints and offers a feasible pathway for identifying patients with joint-level thermal abnormalities who may benefit from expedited rheumatologic evaluation. Further research is needed to refine IRT-based rheumatology referral protocols and optimize their utilization.

- Postpartum Parsonage-Turner Syndrome with Hourglass Constrictions and Spontaneous Recovery without Surgical Intervention. [Journal Article]Eur J Case Rep Intern Med. 2026; 13(5):006571.EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Parsonage-Turner syndrome should be considered in postpartum patients presenting with acute severe upper extremity pain followed by weakness, as the condition may be misdiagnosed as cervical radiculopathy, peripheral nerve compression or carpal tunnel syndrome.Hourglass constriction lesions identified on MR neurography are considered pathognomonic for neuralgic amyotrophy, but the presence of these lesions does not necessarily mandate early surgical intervention.Spontaneous neurologic recovery may occur even in patients with hourglass constriction lesions, supporting the importance of individualised management and careful longitudinal reassessment before proceeding to operative treatment.

- Sustained functional recovery one year after TFCC debridement with adjuvant umbilical cord-mesenchymal stem cells and secretome therapy: a case report. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 May; 138(5):1699-1704.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: One year after surgery supplemented with UC-MSC and secretome therapy, the patient demonstrates sustained pain relief and progressive functional recovery. This case supports the potential role of UC-MSC-based therapy in enhancing long-term outcomes in TFCC injury, warranting further investigation.

- Psychosocial and Sociodemographic Factors Associated with Wrist Pain Severity and Dysfunction in Turkish Housewives: A Web-Based Cross-Sectional Survey. [Journal Article]Healthcare (Basel). 2026 Apr 26; 14(9).H
- Background: Wrist pain is frequently reported among housewives and linked to repetitive household tasks, yet the drivers of pain-related disability remain unclear. Beyond physical load, psychosocial factors such as catastrophizing, mood symptoms, and self-efficacy may shape severity and functional impact. Purpose: To evaluate the severity of wrist pain and wrist-related disability in Turkish hous…

- Triple-Modality Approach for Kienböck Disease (Stage II and IIIA): Outcomes of Distal Radius Core Decompression, Radial Shortening and Scapho-Capitate K-Wiring in 18 Patients. [Journal Article]J Hand Surg Asian Pac Vol. 2026 May 12. [Online ahead of print]JH
- Background: Early-stage Kienböck disease (KD), particularly stages II and IIIA, requires timely intervention to prevent progression and preserve wrist function. This study evaluates the outcomes of a triple-modality approach combining distal radius core decompression, radial shortening osteotomy (RSO) and scapho-capitate K-wiring. Methods: A retrospective case series of 18 patients with stage II …

- What Is the Best Surgical Treatment for Ulnar Styloid Impaction Syndrome? - A Systematic Review. [Journal Article]J Hand Surg Asian Pac Vol. 2026 May 12. [Online ahead of print]JH
- Background: Ulnar styloid triquetrum impaction syndrome (USTI) is a rare cause of ulnar-sided wrist pain resulting from a mechanical conflict between an elongated ulnar styloid and the carpal bones. Despite various surgical options, there is no consensus on the optimal treatment. This study aims to systematically review and synthesise the available literature on the surgical treatment of USTI, fo…

- Concomitant Bilateral Kienböck and Legg-Calvé-Perthes Diseases. [Case Reports]J Hand Surg Glob Online. 2026 Jul; 8(4):101031.JH
- Avascular necrosis involving more than one bone either simultaneously or sequentially is uncommon. We report a rare case of concomitant bilateral Kienböck disease and Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. No definitive predisposing or precipitating factor could be identified. Because of persistent wrist pain, radial shortening osteotomy was performed sequentially on both wrists. At the latest follow-up, th…

- Hooked on Non-union: A Rare Case of Concurrent Scaphoid and Hook of Hamate Non-union. [Case Reports]Cureus. 2026 Apr; 18(4):e106634.C
- Carpal fractures are common orthopaedic injuries, with the scaphoid being the most frequently affected bone. Hamate fractures are uncommon and easily missed due to their subtle clinical presentation and difficulty in detection on standard radiographs, often being misdiagnosed as soft tissue trauma. Simultaneous involvement of the scaphoid and hamate is uncommon, and progression to dual non-union …

- Functional outcomes after open versus endoscopic-assisted De Quervain's release. [Journal Article]J Hand Surg Eur Vol. 2026 May 10; :17531934261447167. [Online ahead of print]JH
- CONCLUSIONS: Both open and endoscopic release De Quervain's syndrome produce good results in terms of pain control and functional capacity. Although classical open release is commonly used, the endoscopic-assisted method, which requires experience and learning, can be performed through a smaller incision.

- Effect of Ultrasound-Guided Lateral Infraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block With Lidocaine or Ropivacaine for Closed Reduction of Distal Radius Fractures: A Randomized Controlled Noninferiority Trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]Acta Anaesthesiol Scand. 2026 Jul; 70(6):e70246.AA
- CONCLUSIONS: Lateral infraclavicular block with ropivacaine 0.2% failed to demonstrate noninferiority for block success and was statistically inferior to ropivacaine 0.5%. Inferiority testing should be interpreted cautiously within the context of a noninferiority design, although the results suggest reduced effectiveness for distal radius fracture reduction. Lidocaine 1% with epinephrine yielded inconclusive results for noninferiority on block success, but provided a shorter block duration without compromising analgesia, patient satisfaction, or quality of reduction.

- What Is the Interversion Reliability and Agreement Between the Decision Tree Patient-rated Wrist Evaluation and the Full-length Version? [Journal Article]Clin Orthop Relat Res. 2026 May 08. [Online ahead of print]CO
- CONCLUSIONS: The DT-PRWE is a reliable alternative to the full-length version, requiring substantially less time for patients to complete. While preserving both pain and function subscores, its simple digital implementation and comparability with existing PRWE data make the DT-PRWE well suited to replace the PRWE in routine clinical practice and for research applications. Future research should focus on cross-cultural validation of the DT-PRWE and test-retest reliability. Also, future research may investigate whether implementing shortened PROMs, such as the DT-PRWE, improves compliance with PROMs.
