- Comparative assessment of antiplatelet effects in neurointervention: Cerebral artery stenosis versus intracranial aneurysm. [Journal Article]Clin Neurol Neurosurg. 2026 May 15; 268:109494. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that standard DAPT (aspirin 100 mg/day + clopidogrel 75 mg/day) appears appropriate for CAS patients but may be associated with increased NB risk in IA patients. These results underscore the need for condition-specific antiplatelet strategies in neurointerventional practice.

- Systemic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as adjuncts in the treatment of chronic periodontitis: a systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]BMC Oral Health. 2026 May 16. [Online ahead of print]BO
- CONCLUSIONS: Current evidence suggests that systemic administration of NSAIDs as an adjunct to periodontal baseline therapy may provide clinically significant benefits in periodontitis management. However, further well-designed randomized controlled trials with larger sample sizes are required to validate and refine this conclusion.

- Preeclampsia presents a major health impact to the maternal-fetal dyad and poses a maternal mortality risk estimated to be 5-15% worldwide, with diagnosis rates for this disorder substantially increasing. This disorder continues to pose a substantial economic burden, with costs estimated at 2.18 billion dollars within the first year postpartum. Despite the dramatic annual impact of preeclampsia, …

- Risk prediction and prevention in patients with advanced subclinical atherosclerosis. [Review]BMC Cardiovasc Disord. 2026 May 15. [Online ahead of print]BC
- CONCLUSIONS: The experts emphasized the importance of individualized screening strategies tailored to the Middle Eastern population, considering the challenges and resource limitations in the region. They recommended selective use of CAC and carotid ultrasound to improve risk stratification and to guide a more personalized approach to managing CVD. The experts stressed the need for standardized protocols, healthcare providers' education, and infrastructure development to ensure the effective implementation of these approaches.

- Efficacy and safety of aspirin for primary prevention in adults with elevated lipoprotein(a) or genetic susceptibility via LPA gene variants: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Journal Article]Eur J Prev Cardiol. 2026 May 15. [Online ahead of print]EJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Among adults without ASCVD but with elevated Lp(a) or high-risk LPA genotypes, aspirin use did not confer a statistically significant cardiovascular benefit and was associated with numerically higher bleeding risk. The apparent reduction seen in rs3798220 carriers was inconsistent and likely reflects small-sample bias.

- Outcomes of Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion With a Coated Device: Primary Analysis of HEAL-LAA. [Journal Article]JACC Clin Electrophysiol. 2026 May 04. [Online ahead of print]JC
- CONCLUSIONS: The HEAL-LAA study demonstrates that the novel device achieves excellent early closure at 45 days and favorable 6-month clinical outcomes, supporting its safety and effectiveness for LAAC. Safety and effectiveness was sustained through 12 months. Overall, results are similar to the predecessor device, and more targeted studies are needed to assess incremental value of the coating.

- Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors and Bleeding Risk in Patients Undergoing PCI on Dual Antiplatelet Therapy: A Retrospective Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Eur Heart J Cardiovasc Pharmacother. 2026 May 15. [Online ahead of print]EH
- CONCLUSIONS: In this large, retrospective, real-world cohort, concomitant SSRI therapy during DAPT was associated with an increased bleeding risk, primarily driven by intracranial and gastrointestinal events, without a corresponding increase in ischemic outcomes, highlighting the importance of clinical awareness of this pharmacodynamic interaction, particularly in higher-risk subgroups, and underscoring the value of established bleeding prevention strategies in this population.

- Intra-Abdominal Hemorrhage Following Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in a Patient with a Cascade Stomach: A Case Report. [Journal Article]DEN Open. 2027 Apr; 7:e70345.DO
- Intra-abdominal hemorrhage is an extremely rare complication of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). We report a case of intra-abdominal bleeding that occurred after ERCP for choledocholithiasis with cholangitis in a patient with a cascade stomach. A man in his 70s underwent ERCP for severe acute cholangitis due to a common bile duct stone. The procedure was initially attempted …

- CONCLUSIONS: This case supports tirofiban-associated acute profound thrombocytopenia as the most likely diagnosis and underscores the importance of prompt drug withdrawal, structured differential diagnosis against heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, and individualized antithrombotic reinitiation. The contribution of G6PD deficiency remains hypothetical and requires further study.
