- Adaption of the plasmin generation assay to enhance sensitivity to plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and establishment of sex-specific reference values in human plasma. [Journal Article]Res Pract Thromb Haemost. 2026 Mar; 10(3):103435.RP
- CONCLUSIONS: The PG assay is a specific and efficient tool to assess modulators of fibrinolysis and to study sex-related differences and has potential as a clinical tool to identify abnormal fibrinolytic profiles in patients and monitor antifibrinolytic drugs, such as tranexamic acid.

- Thrombolysis in spinal cord infarction: Case report and systematic review. [Systematic Review]Neurol Sci. 2026 May 08; 47(6).NS

- FGF20 activates FGFR1-PI3K-AKT signaling to coordinate barrier integrity and alveolar coagulation in sepsis-induced lung injury. [Journal Article]Cell Signal. 2026 May 05; :112574. [Online ahead of print]CS
- Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are pathologically characterized by disruption of the alveolar-capillary barrier, excessive inflammatory responses, and dysregulated intra-pulmonary coagulation. Although inflammatory and thrombotic cascades have been extensively studied, endogenous epithelial-derived signaling mechanisms coordinating barrier stabilization wit…

- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with AIS receiving IVT within 4.5 h of onset, IVT plus SXT was associated with higher observed rates of 90-day excellent functional outcomes and lower observed rates of death and sICH compared with IVT alone.

- Adjunctive Intra-Arterial Alteplase After Successful Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke: The CHOICE-2 Randomized Clinical Trial. [Journal Article]JAMA. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]JAMA
- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with acute ischemic stroke and successful thrombectomy, adjunctive intra-arterial alteplase increased the proportion achieving excellent functional outcome at 90 days without a significant increase in symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage. Higher mortality in the thrombectomy plus intra-arterial alteplase group warrants further study.

- Integrating Inflammation and Lipid Metabolism Biomarkers for Early Risk Stratification in Acute Cerebral Infarction: A Nomogram-Based Approach. [Journal Article]Mediators Inflamm. 2026; 2026(1):e9960889.MI
- CONCLUSIONS: The Hcy/HDL-C and hs-CRP/Alb ratios serve as independent and valuable biomarkers for predicting poor outcomes in ACI patients post-rt-PA treatment. The nomogram incorporating these biomarkers provides superior prognostic accuracy and could be a useful tool for personalized risk assessment and management in ACI patients following thrombolytic therapy.

- Caught in Transit: Mobile Right Atrial Thrombus in Intermediate-High-Risk Pulmonary Embolism Treated With Half-Dose Alteplase. [Case Reports]Am J Case Rep. 2026 May 07; 27:e952646.AJ
- BACKGROUND Pulmonary embolism is associated with increased morbidity and mortality, yet the patient can sometimes look deceptively calm at the bedside. A normal blood pressure reading does not rule out a struggling right ventricle, and patients classified as intermediate-high-risk can deteriorate quickly. A mobile right-heart thrombus (clot-in-transit) adds another layer of urgency because emboli…

- Reperfusion thrombolytic therapy for ischemic stroke in patients on non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants: study protocol of a phase II randomized clinical trial. [Journal Article]Trials. 2026 May 07. [Online ahead of print]T
- CONCLUSIONS: The STRoke on Oral AntiCoagulants for Thrombolysis (STROACT) trial is, to our knowledge, the first randomized phase II study designed to explore the feasibility, efficacy, and safety of reversal-enabled intravenous thrombolysis in a highly selected population of acute ischemic stroke patients on factor Xa inhibitors. The results are expected to be hypothesis-generating and may inform the design of future confirmatory trials.

- CONCLUSIONS: Significant heterogeneity exists on the use of ETR and adjunct antithrombotic agents for pediatric IF-DVT among pediatric hematologists. This is likely a reflection of the paucity of pediatric-specific evidence-based guidelines, underscoring the need for pediatric cohort studies to strengthen management decisions.

- Oxygenator salvage with low-dose thrombolysis. Case report. [Case Reports]
- Membrane oxygenator exchange can be a frequent requirement during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In low-income health systems, the scarcity and cost of disposables pose significant challenges to timely exchanges. We describe a 48-year-old woman placed on veno-venous ECMO for refractory hypoxemic respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia. Within 30 min, the oxygenator developed throm…

- CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with acute ischemic stroke who were treated with either reteplase or alteplase within 4.5 hours after symptom onset, there was no difference observed in the relative efficacy and safety between the 2 groups across the 3 fibrinogen subgroups. However, these findings should be interpreted cautiously and require validation in larger, adequately powered prospective studies. Although several pre-EVT factors were independently associated with UR, accurately predicting which patients will experience UR remains highly challenging. Our findings suggest that all eligible patients should undergo EVT.

- Perioperative thrombin generation and fibrinolytic activation in patients undergoing major gynaecologic surgery for benign and malignant pathology: a pilot study. [Journal Article]BJA Open. 2026 Jun; 18:100549.BO
- CONCLUSIONS: In this pilot study, perioperative fibrinolytic activation was similar between malignant and benign gynaecological surgery, whereas malignancy was associated with altered TG kinetics. These preliminary findings support further investigation into coagulation phenotypes and potential implications for antifibrinolytic therapy in gynaecological oncology.
