- Potential antidepressant properties of aminophylline in male mice exposed to chronic restraint stress. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The study provides the first evidence of the antidepressant activity of aminophylline in a validated model of depression, prompting further clinical investigation into its therapeutic potential. Moreover, molecular and biochemical analyses are warranted to validate its precise mechanism of action.

- Renal Effects of Aminophylline in Cooled Neonates with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. [Journal Article]Am J Perinatol. 2026 Apr 10. [Online ahead of print]AJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Aminophylline administration at the start of TH was associated with a steeper decline in serum creatinine, suggesting a potential renoprotective effect in neonates with HIE. However, the higher frequency of convulsions emphasizes the need for careful neurological monitoring. Further studies are needed to clarify optimal dosing and the balance between potential renal benefits and neurological risks.

- Safety, efficacy, and outcomes of the modified rotational atherectomy approach: A real-world single-center experience. [Journal Article]Indian Heart J. 2026 Mar 21. [Online ahead of print]IH
- CONCLUSIONS: The use of TPM can be avoided during RA, and slow/no reflow incidence can be reduced with pretreatment aminophylline and adrenaline. Small burr sizes with a slow rotation speed and short runs are key for safe and effective calcium ablation with this debulking modality.

- Solubility-Permeability-Matrix Interplay in Percutaneous Absorption Exemplified by Theophylline. [Journal Article]
- The stratum corneum represents the main barrier to transdermal drug delivery, particularly for hydrophilic and ionized compounds such as aminophylline. In this study, the solubility-permeability-matrix interplay was investigated using aminophylline and theophylline as model drugs in various matrix-type transdermal patches based on either hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) or silicone-based Bio-…

- Methylxanthine Treatment in Neonates Admitted to the Special Care Unit: An Observational Study in Low-Resource Settings. [Journal Article]
- Background: The appropriate identification of target patients for methylxanthine therapy may optimize resource allocation and improve clinical outcomes, but data on routine care in low-resource settings are limited. Our study assessed methylxanthine use in clinical practice in two Sub-Saharan settings. Methods: This retrospective, registry-based study investigated methylxanthine use in newborns w…

- Anaphylaxis and Cardiac Arrest Induced by Initial Intravenous Ceftriaxone: A Case Report. [Case Reports]
- BACKGROUND Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic administered by injection, and although it is widely used, there have been rare reports of anaphylaxis and cardiac arrest, with some fatal outcomes. This report describes the case of a 61-year-old woman with anaphylaxis and cardiac arrest on initial intravenous administration of ceftriaxone who recovered following cardiopulmonary resuscitation.…

- Pharmacological treatment for apnoea of prematurity-the need for an individualised approach. [Review]
- Apnoea-the cessation of breathing-is a common condition in preterm infants due to the immaturity of their lungs, airway and brainstem respiratory drivers. Consequently, many preterm infants will receive pharmacological interventions for the treatment of apnoea. Caffeine (or in some developing countries, aminophylline or theophylline) is usually given as first-line treatment, whereas doxapram is s…

- Methylxanthines: The Major Impact of Caffeine in Clinical Practice in Patients Diagnosed with Apnea of Prematurity. [Review]
- Background: Apnea of prematurity affects at least 85% of infants born before 34 weeks' gestation and represents a significant clinical challenge in neonatal intensive care. Methylxanthines, including caffeine, theophylline, and aminophylline, have emerged as the primary pharmacological intervention for this condition. Objective: To conduct a comprehensive systematic review of the use of methylxan…

- Comparative Effects of Aminophylline, Caffeine, and Doxapram in Hypoxic Neonatal Dogs Born by Cesarean Section. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Aminophylline, caffeine, and doxapram supported postnatal resuscitation in hypoxic neonatal puppies; however, caffeine demonstrated superior improvement in Apgar recovery, suggesting its potential as a preferred pharmacological adjunct in neonatal canine resuscitation protocols.

- S100A12 as a key biomarker in a neutrophil-associated gene prediction model for sepsis diagnosis. [Journal Article]
- Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction syndrome caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. As a leading cause of mortality in intensive care units patients, it still lacks sensitive biomarkers. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a diagnostic model for sepsis and identify key driver biomarkers. Using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from the GEO database, we constr…

- Mulberry (Morus alba l.) leaf improves arachidonic acid metabolism disorder in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. [Journal Article]Phytomedicine. 2025 Nov 25; 148:157392.P
- CONCLUSIONS: ARA metabolic dysregulation contributes to COPD pathogenesis, and (±)12-HETE, 15(S)-HETE, and (±)11-HETE may serve as potential biomarkers for COPD. MLWE exert therapeutic effects by modulating ARA metabolism, ameliorating oxidative stress, and suppressing inflammatory responses, offering a novel strategy for COPD prevention and treatment.
