- A case of pregnancy following surgery for imperforate anus with absent prostate and seminal vesicles. [Case Reports]Int J Surg Case Rep. 2026 Apr; 138(4):1298-1302.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: We have experienced a case of successful pregnancy following imperforate anus surgery with congenital absence of the prostate and seminal vesicles. With appropriate treatment, patients with ejaculatory disorder after imperforate anus surgery can still impregnate a partner.

- Cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) Inhibition by Bergamottin and Diosmetin as a Strategy to Enhance the Pharmacokinetics and Antidepressant Efficacy of Amoxapine. [Journal Article]ACS Pharmacol Transl Sci. 2026 Mar 13; 9(3):608-619.AP
- Amoxapine (AMX) is an FDA-approved tricyclic antidepressant used to treat major depressive disorders by modulating monoaminergic neurotransmitters, including serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline. However, its clinical efficacy is limited due to poor aqueous solubility, rapid first-pass metabolism, and extensive biotransformation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, particularly CYP2D6, leading to reduce…

- Evaluation of toxicokinetic interactions mediated by plasma protein binding during amoxapine intoxication. [Journal Article]J Toxicol Sci. 2026; 51(1):31-44.JT
- Toxicity enhancement mediated by plasma protein binding during intoxication remains poorly understood. It is known that in mice, brain penetration of amoxapine (AMX) increases nonlinearly with increasing doses; therefore, this study investigated its potential to enhance toxicity via plasma protein binding. AMX was added to mouse or human plasma and adjusted to therapeutic, toxic, and lethal conce…

- Setup and Evaluation of the TRACT Assay Principle for the In Vitro Functional Characterization of Modulators of the Serotonin Transporter and the Serotonin 2A Receptor. [Journal Article]
- The human serotonin transporter (SERT) is a pertinent target for many psychiatric therapeutics and recreational drugs including new psychoactive substances. Current techniques to assess SERT inhibition typically monitor the uptake of radiolabeled or fluorescent substrates but face limitations regarding the use of nonendogenous substrates and/or low throughput. Inspired by a previously reported pr…

- Successful Treatment of Anemia With Ringed Sideroblasts Induced by Antidepressants Through Vitamin B6 Supplementation and Discontinuation of Antidepressants. [Case Reports]
- Vitamin B6 (VB6) is a vital coenzyme for δ-aminolevulinic acid synthase (ALAS) in heme biosynthesis. We report a 49-year-old male with severe microcytic anemia and ringed sideroblasts initially diagnosed as myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). VB6 deficiency, attributed to long-term amoxapine use, was identified. His anemia improved significantly with VB6 supplementation and resolved completely after …

- In vitro seizure risk assessment using a microelectrode array and comparison with an in vivo rat study. [Journal Article]
- Drug-induced convulsions/seizures are a serious adverse event in the clinic; however, precise convulsion/seizure risk assessment remains challenging, particularly in the early phase of drug development. There is a demand for reliable in vitro assay systems that can predict in vivo convulsions. Here, we investigated the usefulness of in vitro microelectrode array (MEA) assays using rat primary neu…

- Optimized ebselen derivatives as novel potent Escherichia coli β-glucuronidase covalent allosteric inhibitors. [Journal Article]
- Gut microbial β-glucuronidase (GUS) plays a key role in metabolizing compounds and influencing disease and drug metabolism, highlighting the need for potent inhibitors to improve drug efficacy and intestinal health. To identify Escherichia coli β-glucuronidase (EcGUS) inhibitors, we designed and synthesized fifty 1,2-benzoselenazol-3-one (BSEA) derivatives using a bioisosterism strategy. Among th…

- Exploring the correlation between cardiovascular adverse events and antidepressant use: A retrospective pharmacovigilance analysis based on the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The retrospective analysis revealed that cardiovascular AEs were connected with antidepressant use, and the binding/uptake inhibitory potency and selectivity of neurotransmitters of antidepressants played an important role, providing a preliminary basis for further in-depth study of antidepressant-related cardiovascular toxicity. However, as an exploratory study, prospective studies are needed to validate our findings in the future.

- Depolymerization of Waste Polycarbonates to Value-Added Products. [Journal Article]
- Additive free aminolysis method developed for the depolymerization/upcycling of polycarbonates. We report here chemical recycling of polycarbonate under ambient conditions to get its monomer bisphenol A, monoaminocarbamate and biscarbamates in 1 : 2 : 1 ratio respectively. By employing the secondary amine as the aminating reagent, facilitates the depolymerization to work under additive/catalyst f…

- Gut microbiota biotransformation of drug glucuronides leading to gastrointestinal toxicity: Therapeutic potential of bacterial β-glucuronidase inhibition in mycophenolate-induced enteropathy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, these results suggest that the digestive accumulation of MPA is involved in the pathophysiology of MPA-gastrointestinal adverse effects. This study provides a proof-of-concept of the therapeutic potential of bacterial β-G inhibitors in glucuronidated drug-induced enteropathy.

- Pharmacological treatments for psychotic depression: a systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]
- There are no recommendations based on the efficacy of specific drugs for the treatment of psychotic depression. To address this evidence gap, we did a network meta-analysis to assess and compare the efficacy and safety of pharmacological treatments for psychotic depression.

- Inhibitory Actions of Antidepressants, Hypnotics, and Anxiolytics on Recombinant Human Acetylcholinesterase Activity. [Journal Article]
- Alzheimer's disease (AD) is accompanied by behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), which is often alleviated by treatment with psychotropic drugs, such as antidepressants, hypnotics, and anxiolytics. If these drugs also inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, they may contribute to the suppression of AD progression by increasing brain acetylcholine concentrations. We teste…
