- Evaluating AT1R expression and the effects of renin-angiotensin system inhibition in a mouse model of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. [Journal Article]Brain Res. 2025 Dec 15; 1869:149999.BR
- CONCLUSIONS: Regional brain AT1R levels were not significantly dysregulated in Tg-SwDI mice compared to wild-type mice. Additionally, drug treatment with sub-depressor doses of the AT1R antagonist, telmisartan, or the ACE inhibitor, lisinopril, caused no significant brain AT1R alterations in Tg-SwDI mice. This suggests that pathophysiological changes in the brain renin-angiotensin system do not mediate the cognitive impairments and neuropathological changes associated with CAA in Tg-SwDI mice.

- The Effect of Antihypertensive Medication Classes on the Hemodynamic Severity Parameters of Classical and Paradoxical Low-Flow, Low-Gradient Aortic Stenosis. [Journal Article]Cureus. 2026 Jul; 18(7):e112455.C
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort, angiotensin modulators were not associated with slower progression of AS severity parameters. Rather, the GDMT members - sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and beta-blockers - were associated with differential reductions in stenosis severity markers in patients with LFLG severe AS.

- A machine learning model for predicting short-term in-hospital mortality in acute myocardial infarction with coexisting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. [Journal Article]Front Cardiovasc Med. 2026; 13:1863785.FC
- CONCLUSIONS: Using the logistic regression (LR), we developed a predictive model for 28-day in-hospital all-cause mortality in ICU patients with AMI and COPD. This model may help clinicians identify high-risk patients at an early stage, enabling more informed treatment decisions and more efficient allocation of medical resources.

- High-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid promotes the protective axis of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in human dermal fibroblasts. [Journal Article]Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2026 Jul 07; 830:154249. [Online ahead of print]BB
- CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that HMWHA promotes the protective axis of RAAS, with known anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects, by enhancing ACE2 activity and reducing ACE activity, opening perspectives for therapeutic approaches targeting cicatricial alterations and inflammatory and fibrotic dermal diseases.

- Association between aspirin use and decline in intrinsic capacity among community-dwelling elderly: a study based on the Lianyungang ICOPE pilot project. [Journal Article]Front Med (Lausanne). 2026; 13:1769131.FM
- CONCLUSIONS: Aspirin use was not significantly correlated with negative outcomes in the categories of nutritional function, neuropsychiatry, or physical health. The incidence of severe loss of intrinsic ability was significantly reduced when aspirin was used in conjunction with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) (p < 0.05). Furthermore, there was a sex variability in the relationship between aspirin use and sensory function-related outcomes.

- ACE inhibitors reduce the risk of myocardial fibrosis post-cardiac injury: a systematic review. [Journal Article]Br J Cardiol. 2025; 32(2):026.BJ
- Myocardial fibrosis is a common pathological process associated with various cardiovascular diseases, contributing to adverse cardiac remodelling and increased morbidity. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) have been widely used for myocardial protection in high-risk patients. However, there are no clear recommendations for their use for the prevention of fibrosis after myocardial inj…

- Which commercial Chinese polyherbal preparations combined with ACEI/ARB is effective and safe for IgA nephropathy? A systematic review and network meta-analysis. [Systematic Review]Front Pharmacol. 2026; 17:1755995.FP
- CONCLUSIONS: In patients with IgAN, BL combined with ACEI/ARB may outperform other Chinese- Biomedicine regimens in reducing 24-h urine protein quantification, with all combinations potentially superior to ACEI/ARB alone. However, evidence certainty remains low, highlighting the need for more rigorous, long-term RCTs for validation.

- Prophylactic ACE inhibition in anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity: signal, context, and clinical uncertainty. [Journal Article]J Cardiovasc Pharmacol. 2026 Jul 07. [Online ahead of print]JC
- Anthracyclines remain a cornerstone of cancer therapy but are associated with a spectrum of cardiovascular toxicity, ranging from subclinical myocardial injury to overt heart failure (HF). Despite strong biological rationale, the role of universal pharmacologic prophylaxis remains uncertain. In this context, the recent meta-analysis by Pizzi et al. provides a timely synthesis of randomized eviden…
