Charlottesville, VA, April
16, 2003 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW),
a leading provider of electronic and print materials for medical
professionals, and Unbound Medicine, a leader in medical knowledge
management, today announced that they would bring LWW content to Unbound Medicine's CogniQ
platform.
Unbound Medicine will distribute
select LWW titles as
new channels on the CogniQ platform for both Palm OS
and Pocket PC devices. Via Unbound Medicine's integrated
handheld-Web platform users will not only be able to view and navigate
LWW content on the handheld but also to request
more detailed information on any topic. These
requests are routed to the user's Web Library on synchronization and
generate links to more in-depth information in MEDLINE and
other data sources.
"We are delighted to work with
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins
to deliver critical, trusted clinical knowledge where and when it is
needed," said William Detmer, MD, president and CEO of Unbound Medicine.
"LWW's content is specially suited for mobile
professionals and our CogniQ platform because it is authored by
leading experts and provides practical advice for a wide range of
clinical problems in a consistent and easy-to-navigate
structure. Unbound Medicine looks forward to expanding the
relationship to include more titles and distribution strategies in
the coming months."
"This relationship provides LWW with additional opportunities
to meet the growing demands of mobile health professionals,"
said James Ryan, Vice President and Publisher. "Unbound Medicine's unique
knowledge management platform is ideal for our content,
and will allow us to reach new
users and help them manage their professional knowledge not only on
the handheld but also on the Web. This agreement shows our
continuing commitment to meeting the changing information needs of
the medical community."
