The most commonly asked questions about our products for Apple’s iPad.

How do I manage the subscription that I purchased through the App Store using my Apple ID?

Subscription applications, including free trials, purchased through the App Store automatically renew via a default setting within each user’s Apple ID. Users must disable this renewal feature within their individual Apple ID in order to avoid the automatic renewal of their ongoing subscription. Instructions on how to manage the subscription auto-renewal feature within your Apple ID account can be found on Apple’s Support page.

Unbound Medicine offers a 30-day free trial on select titles for users who download from the App Store. This trial uses the standard trial and subscription parameters as created by the App Store. At the end of the free trial, the user’s Apple ID will automatically renew the subscription for a period of one year unless this feature is disabled. This charge will be applied by the App Store. The App Store is administrated by Apple, Inc. and does not share the financial information of its users with any other entity, including Unbound Medicine. Only Apple can issue refunds for App Store purchases.

How can I download stickers to my iOS device?

I want to transfer from one device to an iPad. How can I do this?

To transfer products you must have an active subscription. Users with expired subscriptions must renew the subscription to transfer it to a new device. Unbound products are licensed for use on one device at a time.

To transfer, first remove the product from your old device. You can do this by pressing and holding the icon until an "X" appears. Click the "X" to delete the app. Then, open the App Store on your new device and search for "Unbound Medicine." Select the appropriate product to begin installation. Enter your iTunes user name and password to download. Once the program has been downloaded, open the application and enter your Unbound Medicine user name and password.

I received a message stating "Account in use." Who should I contact?

This message is generated when a product has been installed to more than one device. Please contact the Unbound Medicine support team to resolve this matter.

Can I access Unbound Medicine products on my PC?

How do I create a user name and password for my account?

Once a purchase has been completed, a confirmation page will appear on your desktop or laptop. You will be presented with a link asking you to activate the account. Click this link and follow the instructions to create the user name and password, which will allow you to complete the download to your device.

If you should miss this link or prefer to create this information at a later time, please refer back to the registration email. This email is sent once the purchase is complete, and contains the link to register your account. If this does not work or you no longer have the email, please contact Support for assistance.

How can I mark an item as a favorite?

To view a complete list of your favorites you must currently be on the program’s home screen. To add a new favorite, first open the record of interest. Tap the star icon located near the top right corner of your screen. After the star has been selected it will appear filled in. This record is now saved to your favorites list, which you can view on the home screen.

How do I update the software on my iPad?

There are two types of updates you can complete on-device. The first is updating the content currently installed to your device. When you sync your device you will receive any new features, information, and/or titles which have been added to the software. To perform this sync, open the program to its home page and press the Unbound Medicine logo in the upper left corner of the screen. From the resulting menu, select "Update Content."

The second kind of update relates to the software platform. These updates are issued by the iTunes App Store, so you will see this update upon opening the App Store icon on your device when it becomes available.

How do I remove the application?

Remove the software from your iPad by pressing and holding the application’s icon. When the icon begins to shake press the “X” located above the program you wish to remove. After you have removed the selected title, press the Home button at the bottom of the device to reset the Home screen and stop the other icons from shaking.

Can I clear the Recently Viewed section on my Home screen?

To clear the Recently Viewed section, click the View All button located at the bottom of the Recently Viewed panel. At the bottom of the list, press the "Clear History" button.

How can I edit my Favorites?

To edit your list of favorites, go to the application’s Home screen. Tap the "Favorites" in the lower left panel, then select the View All button near the bottom of the screen. When the list of Favorites appears, tap the "Edit Favorites" button at the bottom of the list and make the necessary changes.

How can I search between titles to locate a topic of interest?

From the application’s Home screen locate the search box in the upper right corner of the screen. Enter the term or topic of interest in the search box to search across all of the resources. Your results will appear as a list of all relevant entries; tap the entry of interest to go to it.

Learn about downloading, registering, and activating your iPad application.

This user guide addresses functionality which is available across a variety of Unbound Medicine products. Your particular application may include all or some of the functionality listed below.

Unbound Medicine applications work on all iOS devices. For memory requirements, please see the user guide for the specific product you are installing. To activate the product or re-install the application in the future, please download the application over-the-air on your device’s web browser, from Unbound Medicine or from an authorized reseller.

Downloading the Application

Begin by downloading the application from the App store. You can do this directly on your iPad or through the iTunes program installed on your PC or Mac. From either starting point, search for "Unbound Medicine" to see a list of products available from Unbound Medicine, or search for the product by its title to find it quickly.

Once you find the product you want, tap Install.

Launching the Application

The application can be launched from the iPad’s Home screen. Tap the application icon and you will be prompted to Preview, Sign In, Buy (via in-app purchase), or Restore.

If you have already purchased the application from the Unbound Medicine store, Sign In with your username and password to access your subscription. If you would like to purchase the application or have further questions, we encourage you to Preview the application before making your decision. The Restore function will re-install your purchased content if you have previously purchased the app via in-app purchase

Home Screen

From your Home screen you can quickly review the components of your application:

Your content resources are displayed across the top of your Home screen. Tap the icon for the particular resource you want to open.

This feature allows you to mark important information as a favorite so you can return to it easily at any time. Your list of favorites is located on the Home screen in the lower left panel. To return to a favorite record, simply tap it.

Recently Viewed
This feature automatically keeps track of the pages you’ve visited most recently. To view your list, return to your Home screen and tap Recently Viewed in the lower left panel. To return to a desired item, simply tap it.

Tips and Notifications
The lower right panel of your Home screen offers tips, information, and highlighted content to enhance your user experience (Drug of the Week, for example) and to keep you up-to-date with all of the latest information related to your application. Select your area of interest by tapping on it.

Index Search
Search all of your application’s content channels simultaneously by using the Search Index feature in the upper right corner of your Home screen. As you enter the search term your results will display as a list, with the icon for each item displayed for each. Select your desired search results by tapping on it.

We recommend that you sync your device often to ensure that you have the most up-to-date content. Return to your Home screen, and tap the Unbound Medicine logo icon in the upper left corner.

Touching the logo will show a menu for several options within the application. To ensure that you have the latest content in your mobile application, select "Update Content".

Use the Jump To feature to avoid having to scroll through an entire index. Begin at the main index of any resource, where you’ll find the "Jump to..." textbox located directly above the index in the left navigation bar. Start typing the search term you desire and the index will automatically scroll to the word you are typing.

You can mark important information as a Favorite making it easy to return to at a later time. To view a list of your Favorites, return to the Home screen where you will find your favorite items in the lower left panel. To revisit a favorite item, simply tap its title.

To create a Favorite
, first navigate to the record you would like to mark as a favorite. Once there, tap the star icon near the top of the screen.

To remove a Favorite : Return to the lower left panel on your Home screen and click "View All" at the bottom of the panel.

Next, tap "Edit Favorites" at the bottom of the screen and a red circle will appear before each entry. Tap this circle and a Delete button will appear next to each favorite. Tap "Delete" to remove that item. Select "Done" at the bottom of the menu to save your alterations.

Unbound Medicine’s Cross Links feature enables you to access relevant information across all of your content resources within the app. This feature will only appear when linked items are available. If linked resources are available, you will see the Cross Links icon appear near the top right of the screen.

Tap the icon and you will be presented with a drop down list of available links. The icon appearing next to each entry identifies the linked resource. Tap a link to go to it; to return to the original resource, use the back arrow on your device.

Your content resources are found at the top of your home screen, each represented by its icon. To open a particular resource, simply tap the icon. (Note: Some Unbound Medicine applications allow you to edit which resources you’re subscribed to using the web application).

Reminder: The Unbound reader works with the navigational features of the iPad to help you quickly locate the information you need:

  • Use the touchscreen to select resources, scroll through content, etc.
  • To follow your path backwards, use your device’s back arrow.
  • To return to the application’s home screen, tap the Home icon at the top of each screen.

Many resources are organized by multiple indexes and sub-indexes, all of which you will find displayed in a list. When you open a resource you will find the main index displayed on the left of the screen.

Tap the entry you desire and you will be taken to either the content record or to a sub-index.

To make for easier navigation, while the iPad is in portrait mode (vertical orientation) you will see the screen divided into two panels. The panel you are actively using overlays the other and also allows you to scroll up and down independently of the non-active panel. To switch back and forth between the two, simply tap the one you want to use.

Find your topic quickly by scrolling to the desired entry using the touchscreen. You may also use the "Jump to" feature as described above. To select an entry, tap its title.

Depending on the content, multiple subsections may be available when viewing a record. To jump to a particular subsection from within a record, select that subsection from the Sections list in the upper left of the screen.

To return to the record page, use the back arrow button. To select a new record or section, simply tap the Sections menu again.
